Cant belive i have not done anything to this in so long :( but time for an update as i finally have some time back to myself its time to get this finished (I HOPE lol) well tonight i stated on my engine i have a uk spec i brought as it had just had a brand new water and oil pump fitted, I will be ditching the uk head in favour for a j-spec i have with hks 264 cams , im not building the engine just going to refresh it with new piston rings , big ends and arp head bolts as only looking for around 570 to 600 bhp.

his some pics of the engine i started tearing it down .

When I did mine I went completely round every hole. No problems for me so far.

If the seal is inside the stud holes, can't see there being a problem. You surely would only have a problem if the seal was outside the stud holes, as that would maybe allow oil to seep down the threads.

Ya thats what i thought and as you can see in the pics there is a hole bead round the inside where the surfaces have been bolted together so should be no where for the oil to escape ,
