michael
For anyone who isn't able to login... Thurs 17/9/09 Being at the end of my contract, it was time for an upgrade. Unfortunately O2 doesn't supply the phone I want (HTC Touch Pro 2) so I took the step to buy one SIM free (actually cheaper in the long run than on contract) and ordered it online, paying by PayPal including next day delivery. All goes through fine. Fri 18/9/09 The postman rings the bell and I dash downstairs to sign for it. When I get back up to the flat I open the box, peel away the bubble wrap and packing to find: and a note telling me my order was identified as "potentially fraudulent" so I called them. Words cannot describe the disappointment... Apparently my billing and delivery address on PayPal don't match - no idea how as there's only one address attached to the account. Apparently to investigate who would receive it, they had to send something to get a signature that wouldn't attract suspicion when it's delivered. So I spend a few minutes on hold to PayPal to speak to a woman in India with a vague American accent who can't figure out what's wrong either. Joy. I eventually figure out that as I'd deleted a credit card from the account a while ago before I moved (which used to be the primary source of funding) and hadn't made my bank debit card the new primary source, it was still picking up the old address. Tick in a box...all sorted. The company I bought the phone from refunded the previous order, I set up a new one and assume the phone will come on Monday. Pissed off, I upgrade my new iPlank to at least have a keyboard and USB functionality: Mon 21/9/09 Nothing Tues 22/9/09 No news by mid morning so I call the company. "Yes, we got the order but the PayPal money hadn't arrived it'll get dispatched today. It should be with you by 5:30 tomorrow" Sure enough the 'Item dispatched' email arrives late afternoon. Weds 23/9/09 I wait in for the courier. Nothing by 5pm so I give them a call. "They're a good courier...it'll be there by 5:30." 5:30 arrives and goes - no courier. Thurs 24/9/09 9am "Hi...I ordered a phone that was supposed to arrive yesterday...order no. xyz" "Ah, yeah....that one didn't get dispatched in time for the courier" "So what's the point of your email system then?" "Sorry, it was a mistake at the warehouse" I get another dispatch email mid afternoon. Fri 25/9/09 10am Nothing 12pm Nothing 3pm Nothing, so I call the company again to get a tracking number just to make sure they have actually sent it this time. Sure enough, the City Link details add up and the package was put on the van a 08:22 that morning for delivery that day. 5pm Nothing 5:30pm Nothing Spend 15 minutes listening to crappy hold music for the local City Link depot 5:45 Doorbell rings...IT'S THE COURIER!!! NEVER have I had such a foul up of events (partly my fault) to get a new phone. It's all been worth it though as it's an absolute cracker I'd had the HTC Tytn II for a while now but this is such a leap forward in terms of design and functionality. Next time: 1) Pay by card 2) Get the tracking number immediately

Abz
I guess they have a point, they can obtain a signature from a fraudster who thinks they have just recieved their goods. Forget fraudsters, I've signed for stuff I got off this very Supra forum as David Beckham, James Bond etc. Like a fraudster is really going to sign with his real name. DamanC
Any names of the phone company? Back on topic - Its not paypals fault. Paypal have sent the money to the phone shop but it has come though with the address not being verified. Its the phone company that sent the plank (why they would bother????) becauser they did not trust the transaction.
