Ewen
Set-up ? I wouldn't have thought so, but Natalie Wood.
Charlotte
Would Polanski have achieved anything without the additional media attention he received thanks to Manson and his team? Did he set the whole thing up? He was cheating on her anyway... was this his way out of a bad relationship? I don't trust him. Yes, no, yes yes and no. RedM
So not only is he the owner of Chelsea FC but he makes films too. Blimey!
JustGav
He was 44 and having sex with a 13yr old??? Fail to see how that is acceptable under ANY circumstances. Famous film maker or not, he was a convicted paedophile on the run. The Polish film director was charged as follows: giving Quaaludes to a minor; child molestation; unlawful sexual intercourse with that minor; rape by use of drugs; oral copulation; sodomy. The girl was 13, though Polanski would say that she looked older. That is a rather nasty list....

But she has now said she doesn't think he should have any punishment, I guess it was consentual at the time - which is still wrong but NOWHERE NEAR as bad as forced rape IMO! michael
But she has now said she doesn't think he should have any punishment, I guess it was consentual at the time - which is still wrong but NOWHERE NEAR as bad as forced rape IMO! He got her drunk and gave her drugs, I suspect the main reasons behind her saying she doesn't think he should be punished are a large amount of cash and a desire for it to stop getting dragged back into the public eye constantly. We're talking about a 44 year old man and a 13 year old girl who has already said no to him... he's admitted guilt and then run away from the punishment. Surely he needs to face up to it at some point instead of hiding and paying for it to go away?
Ian R
I think chopping has cock of and making him eat would be a reasonable punishment.

Chris Wilson
Yeah, but we've all done that at parties haven't we? At the ONE party? Got any invites going free? Being old enough to remember this, I seem to recall someone else allegedly set him up with this girl in a hot tub, and got them both drunk or something? Haven't read the court transcript though, can't stand the man, or his films. Another Errol Flynn, using his fame and perceived glamour to lure young girls astray. I have to make do with their mums. Googling Quaaludes now....
tbourner
Yeah, but we've all done that at parties haven't we? My sister in law's 13, it's quite scary, she could probably pass for 'old enough' as well.
tooley
ask yourself this if it was you and not him do you think it would have taken 30 years to catch you....this is an internationally famous director and hes pulled every trick in the book to elude capture.... the prosecutor in charge of this case has had extradition warrents out for him in so many countries for years and it looks to me as if the pressure has paid off in the end it also probably means the americans will now go easier on the swiss banking authorities for handing him over in exchange for them not having to hand over all those super secret bank account details
michael
It's OK, Whoopi says he's fine because it wasn't "rape-rape" http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/film/roman-polanski/6245219/Roman-Polanski-backlash-as-Whoopi-Goldberg-says-director-didnt-commit-rape-rape.html Luc Besson seems to have the more sensible approach to this... "I have a lot of affection for him, he is a man that I like very much but nobody should be above the law. I don't know the details of this case, but I think that when you don't show up for trial, you are taking a risk."
Rob
Luc Besson can bloody well talk, what was he trying to do with Leon? Sexing up Portman like that, making us all have such wrong thoughts. I had to punish myself quite strictly after that film.

Branners
Amazing to see the difference in reaction to this and Michael Jackson... guilty vs not guilty during a trial. That tends to present a different reaction surely?
