Tom Tom Go is fairly well priced and regarded as one of the better options, I decided to go for a PDA / Telephone and I'm just waiting for Tom Tom Navigator 5 to be released.

If she already has a suitable mobile phone she could get a bluetooth GPS receiver and the Tom Tom software for around £150 - a dedicated GO 300 unit can be had for a little over £350.

There are a few PDA packages around too, stuff like the Navman, iQue GPS - PC World have a couple listed online, a HP 1710 GPS for £299 and a Medion for £249 - neither are amazing PDAs but both are find for basic duties and navigation, your only additional outlay will be for a cradle and a maybe car charger if you plan to do long journeys. Both can be had for peanuts on eBay.

I have used the Compaq Ipaq + Navman GPS Jacket for the last 3 years as my mobile GPS without complaint. The software now has a postcode version.

For about £300 you can get a entry all in one pda/GPS unit, or up to and beyond £600 gets you top notch PDA and GPS Jacket.

Check this site out for options;

I have heard loads of good reviews on the tom tom go. Simple to use and easy to transport around. Not the cheapest units on the market but they are supposed to be worth the money.

If you decide to get one, hold on as they are releasing 3 new better models of the tomtom mid may time.

Im getting one anyway :thumbs:

Im currently using a o2 XDA II with the tomtom navigator 3 software/carkit. Does the stanav and has all the functions of a pda and basic phone. The only thing with the tomtom go is that you would have to remove it everytime you leave the car.... just my 2p worth!
