d-_-b
Some point in the near future i am most likely going to need a new clutch, and i like to do a bit of research before buying anything. Can a few of you reccommend any good clutches for an NA. Wont be doing any kinda track work really this is more just for general use. I am looking at just a stock replacement at the moment, but thought on the off chance there were any nice alternatives, would check. Thanks in advance to anyone who has any suggestions, is appreciated.
Kirk
If your not going to use it on the track or anything then stock is best option Apologies for the jacking.. if someone has suggestions on a good clutch for road/track use?
dr_jekyll
i agree, for standard power and genral use stick with the oem
d-_-b
In relation to the thread, can anyone advise the "normal" price for a stock clutch? Ifs its a mad price from Mr T then any "fast road" alternates that are worth considering?
Nic
Genuine Toyota OEM clutch components, parts are not expensive.
dr_jekyll
i think there is a shortage of good clutches for the n/a, trying to buy a clutch for my n/a-t is hard work , and steer well clear of things like xtd and xtr that promise power handeling of 600bhp. 8 psi of boost and a hard change and they slip like durex lube , perthetic. d-_-b
Think stock will def be the route then, and if they are a good price as seems to be the case after Nic's advisement. Can anyone advise on what kind of price am i going to be looking at for a stock N/A clutch from Mr T ?

Try a RPS clutch (not the six puck) the one I had in my old supra held 1.2bar just fine.

Meko
dunno about Mr T but when i needed on i was quoted a price by the garage but advised to check eBay and see if i could get the parts. i found this bloke selling these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Toyota-Supra-JZA80-3-0i-Imports-None-Turbo-Clutch-Kit_W0QQitemZ230279069247QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item359db3be3f , printed the auction out and took it to the garage who said it was a lot cheaper and the standard part
caseys
Got an RPS Street clutch for my NA previously, including shipping from the states it was still cheaper than buying OEM with a 15% discount in the UK at the time, but then $:£ was 1.95:1. Didn't feel heavy, hardly any difference from stock.
bromy
will do, whats the prob with the 6 puk just drivability ? Yes spot on from what I have read, thats why I never went for the 6 puck. As Caseys has said not much difference in feel between the street item from RPS and standard. Part number was MS-22522-ST from the MAX series. http://www.turboclutch.com/
pbryant_knight
what is the price for a standard OEM N/A clutch? Peter
d-_-b
Yea, was kind of after a figure. Seem to have opposing views atm which is a tad confusing. Asked my friend who works at Mr T for a price, but she said that the parts desk is closed until after the new year.
icemanv6
When I got my OEM clutch changed it cost me about 210 pounds for the clutch before VAT I think.
pbryant_knight
That's not too bad. how much would fitting be roughly from a standard garage and not a Toyota dealer. (based on time to fit) Peter
icemanv6
Basically I got mine done with all this, new clutch + clutch release bearing + fitting for 470 pounds including VAT. I know someone else on here's local garage wanted 600+ to do the same work. The garage I went to did 3 hours work at 40 pounds if I read my invoice correctly I only needed the clutch release bearing doing, but thought i'd get a new clutch put in whilst I was getting that changed for the sake of peace of mind
