AWOL
OK, so I'm so close to buying my first Supra but Insurance is quite a subject so any recommendations out there of either specialist Jap import insurers or main stream ones that have surprised you as being competitive. As an example to start our thread off, I have just had a quote from Direct Line, based on a 1993 TT thats in our classified section that I'm really interested in (BigKev's). Its only got mods of HKS Coilovers and a KN air filter and they have quoted £800 (I'm 37 with 3 points and one claim to my name) so it didn't sound that bad, but....and heres where I couldn't quite believe it, the excess ramped up from £175 to £825 for accidental and £625 for fire and theft... I've not started to shop around yet as I wanted a quick guide so just rung my current insurer up so would imaginge I can get it cheaper but has anyone else had the same experience re the excess? Cheers everyone
stevie_b
I'm about to renew my insurance (currently with Sky), so I'm looking around too. I haven't played with excesses much, but I just make sure that they're not too high. £800-odd quid is a bit steep unless you're desperate to keep that premium down. A high excess is basically a gamble on you not claiming. I'll be giving Adrian Flux a call to compare quotes.

Ricky49
DNA quoted me £464 fully comp this for a TT. I was 28 when they quoted that and I have 3 points. They were a lot cheaper than many recommended companies on here.

Cheers everyone I phoned direct line for a laugh once and was quoted £1700 and a 900 excess. i think they might be ok for a 1.1 fiesta and if you haven't made a claim since 1860.
