AndrewOW
Well, metal detectors will be out of stock before Christmas. That's my main concern!
Ewen
I'm absolutely fascinated by stuff like this. I'd love to find something like this. I really should get round to buying a metal detector, spending weeks researching arial photos of likely areas, set up a contract with the land owner, and spend weeks of my life walking up and down the fields of Britain. Or write a best seller. Or invent something worth millions. Or bend spoons. Lifes too effing short aint it ?

I think I've seen somewhere, that museum will offer 50% of treasure value to split between farmer and a guy who found stash.

Wikipedia - Treasure Trove Wikipedia - Treasure In September of 2009, the largest single Anglo-Saxon hoard was discovered, totaling over 1500 gold and precious metal pieces, helmets and sword decorations by Terry Herbert in Staffordshire, England. 5 kg (11 lb) of gold and 2.5 kg (5½ lb) of silver in total weight were discovered and reported by the finder as treasure. Herbert used a metal detector to detect the find on farmland. Terry and the landowner both will likely be given a reward "in the millions of pounds", as this is one of the most significant finds of ancient Anglo-Saxon artifacts.
