Septic
Damage update For those of you (me included) who have been disappointed with the lack of damage on the cars fear not. Just started the expert series and noticed damage has increased some what, plus it's becoming easier to roll the car with some quite dramatic end over end roll overs. Perhaps in the extreme series we will see this increase to bits falling off. Anyway here are some picks of my Supe a little bit worst for ware. After a scrape with the barrier http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=123548&d=1290865504 http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=123549&d=1290865504 Coming back down for a hard landing http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=123550&d=1290865504 Maybe not over it goes again http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=123551&d=1290865504 The end result http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=123552&d=1290865504 http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=123553&d=1290865578 http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=123554&d=1290865578 Is that a joke lol? Is that actually GT5 or a PS2 version??
pistonbroke
The standard model cars really are shite. The more I play it, the more I think Forza has taken the crown for sim racers.
ScottC
The Supra RZ isn't a premium car so the detail isn't particularly good
Septic
The Supra RZ isn't a premium car so the detail isn't particularly good That's an understatement! That really has completely put me off buying this game. 6 years in the making and cars modelled like that? Shocking really.

Ricky49
Just bought this today. Im going to dust down the PS3 and spend all night crashing.
Septic
Is that any better? http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=123562&d=1290872673 http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=123563&d=1290872673 Anyway the point was damage seems to increase the further you progress into the game. Yeah but why does it look awful in certain instances and decent in others?? Also, where is the logic in unlocking damage to cars as you progress? And I thought the damage in Forza was a bit rubbish- this is even worse! I saw a video ages ago showing the damage on GT5 and that looked great but its just been dumbed down to slight dents and a bit of dust sprinkled on top lol. I appreciate that this is a hardcore simulator but GT5, after 6 years in development, cannot just rely on that to make it a worthy purchase. I think ign summed it up really well when they said it was a 10/10 simulator and a 5/10 game (or something along those lines). Mind you, Polyphony seem to be quite adamant that their future updates will sort out lots of issues. When they have done so I might be interested in getting the game. I don't wanna moan though- just my opinion really. You guys enjoys the game!!
GazzaGSi
The reason some look pants is because they are hi res PS2 ports. The others(known as premium cars in the game) are fully detailed. I dont think its more of unlocking the damage model, but progressing from beginner through the ranks. Beginner if you like (aka, easy in other games) has reduced damage to help the end user while you find your feet etc in the game. As you progress and the difficulty of the AI increases, so does the damage of your car which means more repair work in GT Auto. Thats my view on it anyway. Took some pics earlier so will upload later
Whitesupraboy2
those graphics are a disgrace. why didnt they just store the original data in high format so it kept the detail....nuts
ScottC
Who knows? Everything seems to be top secret these days. I guess they could have left the standard cars out but then we would all be complaining there isn't enough variation. Maybe it all came down money and after five years of development they needed to bring in some income so they could develop it further through updates. By the sounds of things there is a lot more to come. *finger crossed*
neo2810
I don't care what anyone says, the more I play this, the more I enjoy it!
davej705
First impressions of this game are not good for me.in fact I'm massively disappointed in it. Hopefully it will get better as it progresses...
a98pmalcolm
im loving it... fantsatic game!! The graphics are brillient! Yes there are 800 cars imported from PS2 that they have "buffed" a little but the 300 cars designed for the PS3 are mind blowing!! Bearing in mind this game is still in production. There was another big update today and the updates will keep coming, like the loading times a so much quicker now... Cars will be improved etc... Menus are only menus they dont really bother me, im used to them now anyway... People moan about the limited cockpit views but iant over 250 of them enough? Ok yer would be cool to have more but maybe an update for the future... Im doin all the B-Spec races now to improve my driver so im as ready as i can be to try and win the SLK lol
a98pmalcolm
There you are a few quick usless shots from me lol (could have spent a lil more time with the replay camera tool but these were just for a quick show) http://img833.imageshack.us/img833/5186/highspeedringxf.jpg http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/3920/londonn.jpg http://img573.imageshack.us/img573/6853/trialmountaincircuit.jpg Even the imported cars form the old GT look pretty good so quit ya moaning about the graphics.. there pretty intense lol The Vayron imported from older GT http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/6159/circuitdelasarthe2009.jpg Play it then knock it down!! Oh BTW here is my lil GT display in my room as i got the signature edition http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/4915/20101128002.jpg Yes, yes i know im a right lil fan boy
GazzaGSi
Quick vid on damage at level 40, or dont view it if you want to find out for yourself [video=youtube;bGWih-RTbXQ] "....Gran Turismo 5 has a progressive damage system. This means that as you level up and become more experienced each level of damage becomes unlocked. A report indicates that at level 20 in the game, near full damage becomes unlocked with moderate mechanical issues and at level 40 full damage becomes unlocked with significant mechanical issues..." Scott
I'm quite enjoying the game itself. The graphics are absolutely STUNNING. The little details make it all too, like the shadow effects etc. The karting is great fun (are you restricted once in 1st place or something?). The layout is terrible, none of it is intuitive. I got my "B" license so chose "B-Spec" only to be told I wasn't the driver. I then spent the next 5 mins trying to figure out how I made myself the driver before clicking on "A-Spec" and the penny dropped. The game starts off very well for absolute beginners. I enjoy my driving games and, although I am not a pro, I'm finding it far too easy to win races to start with..... and also far to difficult to get the cars I need for races. Some say it was part of the fun, it's just an annoyance for me. I want to drive and race, not wait patiently and collect. Anyway, the actual gameplay itself is 2nd to none, the menu structure and gaming structure, at the moment, is tedious. Oh, just to add. The graphics during gameplay are FAR better than what I expected... and I expected a lot. The pictures seriously don't do this game any justice, it is beautiful. GazzaGSi
Add us Scott, GazzaGSi I know what you mean about the pics, some on this thread are awful put simply but, they lie Also found an interesting article which is absolutely genius, wonder how many reviews are going to be edited when its obvious now they didnt even meet the nessessary levels Link to full article: http://gamer.blorge.com/2010/11/27/gran-turismo-5-reviewers-failed-yamauchis-damage-test-incomplete-reviews/ The fact that this was kept under wraps also sort of feels like Yamauchi’s “gotcha” to those that may have jumped the gun on rushing to put out their reviews without fully playing the game. There will be more to come as rumblings on more aggressive AI is starting to bubble.

Scott
now im tempted to get this....... I don't think anyone has anything to lose really. If you don't like it you could easily sell it on for only a few £'s loss. I had a little hunt for people wanting rid of it and couldn't find any lol. I'm certainly very happy with it, and if the link Gazza posted is anything to go by it can only get better and more indepth. The Karting on it's own is great fun. Oh, I don't know what people mean by no sense of speed? I think the speed is VERY accurate, especially noticeable with the Karting when you are so low to the ground. Scott
The more I play this the better it seems to be getting. Still very slow loading times though. The game feels unfinished The load time itself doesn't bother me, the fact that nothing is happening while it is loading does. They could easily have had a background showing an overview of the track or something like that while it was loading, something to distract you from the "loading" image and crappy progress bar. Another thing that is slightly annoying is the confirmation of everything. I feel like I click "OK" constantly. "Do you wish to sign into PS Network" 'Yes/No' I click 'No' "You have chosen not to sign into the PS Network" 'Ok' I click 'Ok' I then click on "GT mode" "Do you wish to sign into the PS Network" 'Yes/No' FFS! It does feel a little unpolished, but the positives FAR outweigh the negatives.
davej705
Yeah that I furiated me yesterday,I set my ps to always signed in now so it stops it.but that is slowing the whole thing down according to the psn message on the main menu screen. The load time itself doesn't bother me, the fact that nothing is happening while it is loading does.
