Yellow engine warning light

On the way to get the car MOt'd this morning i was sat in traffic and then pulled away, just as i did the yellow engine warning light came on along with the red light with the ! in the centre of the dash, i stopped and switched the engine off and on and it had gone.

Any ideas?

Won't be brake fluid, that'll bring up the (!) light on your right hand dial - the handbrake light basically.

Yellow engine light can be an o2 sensor, MAF/MAP (iirc), something detected by the ECU that is not either oil pressure or oil level related either. It'll be engine or sensor related, not ancilliaries like oil or brake fluid I think..

As you've said, best to go check error codes and see what's stored. Did it reoccur on the way back home or has it been a one off? I hate it when something occurs once and you can't recreate it to diagnose a bit further!

Just picked car up and on the way home it came on again after a little blast, tried doing the fault code check and the yellow light just stays on and doesnt blink at all.

Reading through the reciepts for the car its had the speed sensor changed a few years back, could this be at fault again.

It has no speedo/delimiter fitted yet that i know of.
