Tricky-Ricky
Not being too up on this sort thing, i recently put a 320gig HD in my PS3 and not wanting to waste the original 80gig HD i bought an enclosure, however when plugged in to my Vista laptop it says its installing the drivers for it, but it doesn't appear anywhere as a connected device, any ideas? Jake
Go into Disk Management and name the disk. (I think, IIRC, etc)
caseys
You will have to format the device first with a low level format, as Jake says you'll have to go into Disk Management, format it to FAT32 or NTFS and then name it and it should mount OK. Tricky-Ricky
If i go into disc management, i originally found that it wasn't initialised, so i did that, but it still will not show, also there is no option to format it, any further ideas? caseys
Right click the drive in Disk Management and format should be there as an option. NTFS is the way to go I think. Otherwise you need something like Swissknife http://www.compuapps.com/Download/swissknife/swissknife.htm But I think that's XP only. This may work for vista http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/index.htm?fat32format.htm
Tricky-Ricky
Thanks guys, sorted now, typical! its just the terminology that was throwing me, needed to scan the disc in order to then format, in NTFS, doh! Edit! OK new problem my other PC running XP won't even see the disc, when plugged in it just lights up and makes a ticking noise|?

Jake
If you have the latest service pack your W2K should be able to read HDs > 137Gb no problem.
