Scott
I'm going to buy another PS3. I use mine mainly as a mediacenter so i'm going to get another one for upstairs. Also means that the wife and i can take turns between t'big telly when her crap is on lol. Gives me the option to continue a game upstairs etc (will need to backup saves obviously). Anyone else use more than one?
hiten55
why dont you just buy a small form factor pc for downstairs and move the ps3 up?

Scott
why dont you just buy a small form factor pc for downstairs and move the ps3 up? You just don't read do you I use the PS3 mainly as a mediacenter. I have all our favourite shows available to watch at the touch of a button (almost 2tb worth of stuff). I do enjoy playing games though, and you can't beat the 50" plasma for that. Beats the crap out of the lowly 29" crt i have upstairs anyway.... which will lead me onto my next purchase 37-42" tv for the bedroom. I've just ordered it. I'm a bit impulsive to say the least. I get an idea and 10 mins later its executed.

Scott
How much can u pick one up for these days? Mite bin the wii and get one Most places are doing them for £250. You can pick up an old skool one for around £200 brand new. £150 if you want to take the no-warranty risk and go second hand. Never bin the wii, great bit of kit. I play the wii more often than the PS3. I guess thats because its a bit more friend & girl orientated. When we have mates in for a drink the Wii always ends up turned on. The PS3 does, but very rarely for a game of buzz. I want another one for my room but i'm fighting the urge Hopefully its not just a fad for me. I've had the idea for about a day and a half lol. If i decide its a bad idea i'll let you know. The only negative i see is the outlay at the start. I actually thought about a 360 but then that would mean playing different games in one room to the other. I prefer the 2 PS3 idea where i only pay for each game once and i can concentrate on one game at a time. Also the mediacenter aspect isn't as good IMO. caseys
Scott did you buy an old one or the new slimline? Haven't seen a new one myself yet, but in terms of style I prefer the old model. Only reason I think I'd buy the newer one is for the lower accoustic noise.
Mike
I never use the one I've got... I'd sell it if I hadn't bought all the Guitar Hero stuff for it

Blimey... we have one TV in the house, a 25" CRT in the living room. I think it does teletext, but not sure. Either you're techno-mad, or I'm living in the dark ages! I was going to get the old one as i prefer the look of it but the new one uses less power etc. I'm hoping they will have beefed up the laser and also the deals that game are doing can't be beat IMO. I couldn't find the old one brand new any cheaper than i could get the new one lol. Sony have always been good at improving their products so hopefully this follows the same trend. Shame about the finish. Blimey... we have one TV in the house, a 25" CRT in the living room. I think it does teletext, but not sure. Either you're techno-mad, or I'm living in the dark ages! Bit of both i would say. I do like my toys, heaven forbid if i ever get rich Cash constraints are the only thing that holds me back from going all out nuts. Jake
Anyone see the thing on Watchdog the other day about PS3s breaking down a lot ? Kinda put me off getting one a bit.
Thorin
Anyone see the thing on Watchdog the other day about PS3s breaking down a lot ? Kinda put me off getting one a bit. Sony have rebutted the claims I believe. I don't know who to believe but it certainly wouldn't be the first time Watchdog's sensationalist reporting has gotten things wrong. Certainly failure rates are much lower than the 360.
caseys
Anyone see the thing on Watchdog the other day about PS3s breaking down a lot ? Kinda put me off getting one a bit. I think they've portrayed it worse than it actually is. I think the failure rate for PS3 is 1/2 or even 1/3 of the Xbox failure rate (54-55% failure rate?). Think it was discussed in a thread a member started on which console he should get with his free phone deal. Could always put up a poll of members on here of what console they've had and if it's trouble free for a quick overview

Watchdog claimed 0.5% of the old model PS3's got the yellow light, I believe Sony say it's actually "much less" than 0.5%. edit: sorry that's 0.5%!! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8263063.stm
caseys
Watchdog claimed 5% failure rate of the old model PS3's, I believe Sony say it's actually "much less" than 5%. I think that was the 'yellow light' issue affecting 2-5% of failures. Sneaky wording. I do think the failure rate goes 1st - XBOX - 54.2% failure rate 2nd - PS3 - 10% 3rd - Wii - 2.7% Percentages are out there... I found them because I got bored http://consumerist.com/5338852/xbox-360-failure-rate-is-542-percent-game-informer-finds http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2009/09/18/bbc_sony_ps3/ The BBC also alleged that, by Sony’s own admission, around 12,500 of the 2.5m PS3s sold in the UK since March 2007 have broken down in the same way. But Sony has since staunchly denied the claims. “Fewer than one half of one percent of [uK] units have been reported as failing in circumstances where the yellow indicator is illuminated”, the Japanese electronics giant said in its rebuttal to the BBC. So yellow light has hit less than 12,500 PS3s out of 2,500,000 sold. http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2009/09/03/squaretrade_console_failure_report_sept_09/
