Aero-M
I have seen a Transit, the old type. I have been told by numerous mechanics they go on forever, I have seen one cheap but has 1 years mot and a couple of months tax, 320k on the clock. Bodywork seems surprisingly good for an old transit. Has service histroy so would anyone touch it with that mileage? Looking for a cheap van to get started but don't want to buy something rubbish. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180409830117&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT Edited September 20, 2009 by Aero-M (see edit history)

themodifiedkid
I have owned a few transits now, all tipper bodies. They are work horses but are real rust buckets. Did own one with 400 odd thousand miles on the clock, the only reason I don't have that one now is because someone crashed into whilst it was parked up and wrote it off. So in answer to your question, its not unheard of to have such high miler transit, also with full MOT and I expect its only few hundred£, id say go for it. edit: obviously only go for diesel versions, did once have a 1.6 panel transit, was gutless and very juicy. Aero-M
it's only at 99 pounds as a startin point I can't really see it going much over that. I have put a link in. I have been looking at nissan vanettes but all over a grand, But none seem to be all that bodywork wise. Just thought With the ticket on this one it's throw away money if it only lasts 6 months. I wouldn't want it as a bus so would board up the inside to cover the windows. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180409830117&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT Edited September 20, 2009 by Aero-M (see edit history)
Jamesy W
I'd personally stay clear. Fair play it's only a hundred bucks, but I'd be going for something a little more long term, especially seeing as you are just starting out. If I looked out the window and saw a tradesman roll up in a boarded up minibus, I'd immediately think to myself 'I'm not lettting letting that gypo' carry out any work in my property. True, It is only going to be a tool box though, All quotes etc I use my car for. I have a full time job at the moment but want to get started properly, all be it weekends until it hopefully picks up. So I Didn't really want to borrow for a expensive van. I use my car at the moment (not the supra) and it's just not any good. Cool mate, even buy one of those Nissans needing just a little tlc bodywork wise, that way it could always be sorted in anyfree time you have, and at the same time you aren't running the risk of a 350k miles time bomb going off

You could always have sign writing done to cover up any imperfections on the Nissan. You would also be able to park that outside your house without psetting your neighbours too. Aero-M
. This sold for £685 and had 23 bids. I didn't expect it to go over the £99 starting bid with those miles.
