Guest Asmat
hi there, i have a lexus is200 which is supercharged and going to buy a lexus soarer 2.5 tt hopefully later next week. the plan is to take the 1jzgte engine and put it in the lexus is200 but i have a question. at the moment the soarer is auto. i know i would need a r154 gearbox but the question is that would i need to change the wiring loom or the ecu when converting it to a manual? thanks
Swampy442
First off its a Toyota Soarer, the only Lexus Soarers are left hand drive Secondly you will need to mess about with the wiring, particularly the park/neutral switch. If the ECU thinks the cars in gear it wont let it start, also the reversing lights need sorting but you can run an auto ECU no probs. You'll need a manual gearbox bell housing, clutxh, flywheel etc.
Guest Asmat
Right thanks mate. The soarer I'm going to buy is a right hand drive so that's fine. I am looking to buy a r154 gearbox and will buy a new clutch and a lightweight flywheel. It's just the wiring that's worrying me but if I could find 1jz gte manual wiring then it would make things Alot easier
Swampy442
Its a common swap so a bit of time on google should give you the results you need.
