Alex
That pipe on the left hand side of the engine which returns to the water to the radiator via the top hose, houses two sensors and connects to the block and water pump....Is what I have managed to destroy today.... A few weeks ago I managed to snap off the sensor to the internal water temp gauge....because I was trying to remove it. So today I was using an easy out to remove the rest when I found that the bond between the brass sensor and ali pipe was stronger than the pipe itself I shattered the area around the sensor and have left myself in a bit of a pickle.... BUT to the rescue came Phil Wall...he new of a guy with a spare inc. sensors gaskets the lot!! Picked it up today and will fit it tomorrow.... phew!!! Can't believe how unlucky and lucky I've been today.... Anyway here is a pic and a warning about the ali top pipe, it does suffer fatigue and can't take much of a hit when its done 100,000 miles and probably less....if you have to remove the sensors ever...have a complete spare to hand! The sensors don't come out!!!! With any luck it will all be a bad dream come suday evening...
