Jamesy
Just wondered what the deal is with bonnet pins? As in: Is it just for that racing look? How much are they? Where do you get them from? Are they easy to fit without f@#king up your bonnet? Muchos!
tooquicktostop
Aero catches look much better but are not easy to fit They give piece of mind with aftermarket bonnets in that they prevent it opening at high speed, aero catches also have a lock on some of them as an option which makes the bonnet more secure
Al Massey
Mainly for the look Couple of quid upwards Can get them on ebay, demon tweeks etc You need to drill 2 holes big enough for the pin to go through and then either screw or rivet them down usually 4 holes for that. And than attach the 2 big pins under the bonnet somewhere where it is solid. Or you can get the look ones thst just attach to the bonnet

Nope, I've got them fitted for regulation reasons on the track car, and because the bonnet catch is knackered on the van:) 2. Cost me a tenner a set 3. Motorsport suppliers. 4. Yeah easy to fit BUT you do have to drill holes in your bonnet. These aren't fancy aerocatch ones but rather just functional motorsport ones. JustGav
thanx mate - so would you say the pins are better than the aero ones? can you recomend any on la internet anywhere?? I'd say if you are even slightly remotely interested in style then the el cheapo pins probably aren't for you, they are simply there to keep the bonnet down and provide fast access to the bay if required. Aerocatch ones do look much smarter but having never used them I can't comment on how well they work.

marc_p
You generally have to use them on aftermarket bonnets as I remember the carbon bonnet on my old Civic used to lift up at speed without catches, bit pointless on a stock bonnet though unless you want to remove the stock catches and latches.
