TonyP
Iirc you lose them after 3 years but they stay on your actual licence for 4.
Steve
Iirc you lose them after 3 years but they stay on your actual licence for 4. As above, they are valid for 3 years but they can not be removed from your license until 4 years has past.
michael
As above x2, the points are removed from the license after 4 years but don't count on your record after 3.

lexsum
also totting up is from date of offence to date of offence, not date of sentence or any other dates. the 4 year period is how long the DVLA will print the points on you licence - you will have to pay to get a new 'clean' licence after the 4 years unless you move house of course. Even so, most insurance companies will ask for convictions for the past 5 years, so you will still have to declare them.
Geo
I remember the time i had 9 points on mine. All gathered on a BMW 320I soft top, and a Pug 206 Gti. So when i got the Supra, i was driving about like an Old woman.

Guest Budz86
On a side note, short of checking the paper part of your license, how else can you see what points you have and what date you got them?
