Terminator
Just had a heated argument with my local dealer regarding the 20004 filter v the 20003 filter. As many of you know ththe 20004 filter is used on Lexus V8 engines. It fits the MKIV and is used by the USA boys, admittedly their stock filter is a paper element where as the V8 has the same superior filter material as ours, it has just has a larger capacity. The guy told me he could not let me have one for my vehicle. I told him I did not care about warranties and I am running that filter in the car at the moment. He said he could not see the point as it would make no difference. If it makes no difference than there should be no problem. He finally agreed to order it for me. I still have the view that a bigger capacity filter is better. Less force on the filter material so better filtration; larger surface areaso slightly better cooling from the filter. Am I wrong? Syed Shah
Sounds logical to me. Just another case of Toyota dealers being awkward!
GavinL
If your changing your oil every 4500 miles why worry about. I would have thought that an additional oil cooler would serve better in extending the life to your engine and turbo's, I can't see a larger filter adding much value....IMHO
