Been reading good and bad reviews about the island but more good than bad though. Anybody able to comment who has been?? Am looking forward to it none the less. Oh going to Montego Bay. pistonbroke Posted September 14, 2009 Share Posted September 14, 2009 I went to the Sandals Resort in Ocho Rios (sp) a couple of years ago. The Jamaicans I met were all very very nice people. It takes some time to wind down to their speed of doing things though, expect to wait a while at bars for drinks, they do everything very very slowly, there is no sence of urgency anywhere on the island. The only thing that let it down for me (and I apologise if this offends anyone) was the yanks. They were very loud, obnoxious, rude, and generally all fat. They have no concept of waiting in line, and walk around like the whole world owes them a favour. I got into a heated argument in a restaurant with one who que jumped about 20 people waiting to get in, the beer got the better of me and I gave him both barrells in front of everyone. GazB Posted September 14, 2009 Share Posted September 14, 2009 We were there in 2006 Riu Ocho Rios Hotel one of the best holidays we've ever had The mini bar was defiantly the best yet The hotel was great along with the food and drink. The only problem we had were the loud and crude Canadians that were there who normally go to Mexico, but has the previous hurricane had done damage they had descended on Jamaica. The local were fine including the beach sellers, i wouldn't fancy going off the tourist route though. The trip to Bobs place was second to none also climbing Dunns river falls. We also did the helicopter sight seeing trip Some nice pics there We're going to Riu Montego Bay. Riu are a good chain of hotels along with Iberostar. Will deff be doing Dunns river falls.
