Scott
Bargain! It seems its been a long time coming. OS software has been overpriced for far too long.
AlexM
Nice! I ordered it yesterday for £50 as everywhere else is now £65+ (which is still pretty cheap for a Microsoft OS).
stevie_b
Thanks Michael, that's a good deal. I dithered when PC World first made Windows 7 available for pre-purchase, since then their price has gone up.
imi
Seems like snowLeopard being priced at £30 has done the trick.....MS as always - love to follow the path of others

Fitz
Apparently, it "can't find what I'm looking for", Sold Out methinks. But, The Windows 7 Professional is available for a bargain price of £167.97....

imi
Depends what you mean by apps. for web browsing, office like desktop suite of apps, email - all that works with linux one thing I have not looked into recently are ease of driver support & media apps for devices such as cameras, phones, flip, mp3 players, etc..... Animal
It's now only listed at £170 Amazon have the Home Premium edition at £
Animal
So, is it worth buying this then? I've heard quite a few good reports about it. Also, if I bought a full version of Home Premium, would I be able to use it as a full install on my XP machine & upgrade my Vista laptop as well? Scott
Some versions come with up to 3 licenses. I cannot say whether the home premium version does but it will tell you in the description i would think. I find windows 7 absolutely fantastic. There are a few little bugs and i have had 1 BSOD but other than that its looking good. Just need to wait on the updates and fixes to have it running solid. Its much more resource friendly than vista is and it is compatible with everything i have thrown at it, always a bonus. I would suggest the "evaluation" copy first Animal, just to "suck it and see". AlexM
It's only a license for a single machine, so you couldn't legally install it on your desktop and your laptop. I'm sure you could though, if you wanted.

There are ways around it but you can't just install 2 copies with the same product key if the key isn't covered for multiple users.

There are ways around it but you can't just install 2 copies with the same product key if the key isn't covered for multiple users. Unless it's changed for Windows 7, you can do this easily. You usually have at least 3 activations 'free' before you have to call them, I had no problem using my copy of Vista Home Premium on several computers. I wouldn't say it's worth buying, because I think it's horribly overpriced. However, as an OS it is very good and a vast, vast improvement on Windows Vista. It runs much nicer on lower spec hardware too. I've been running Build 7100 for a while now, even the pre-RC beta versions were really good too. Jake
I've been running Windows 7 Ultimate for just the last couple of weeks. I do like it but it seems to use a lot of RAM even when the PC isn't really doing anything. My 2 year old PC only has 2gig of RAM, which was fine for XP, but under W7 a full gig of that 2gb is being used all the time!
RedM
I'll stick with Linux thanks. That is until I can afford a Mac.
jonathanc
Hmm, isn't W7 supposed to be a better version of Vista? I'm not sure if I should upgrade yet due to the fact that I'm running a 64 bit system and I don't want to risk any system downtime Is it up for sale now btw?
