Nurburgring --German Police Getting Stricter

From a safety point of view it's good to see some clamping down, but there is something marked with a cross that I find personally worrying. Fahrzeug 5, second row, last picture. Thats looks like an accelerator adaption ring for limited mobility drivers. I know quite a few drivers with these types of adaptions that would see that as a problem if they are not allowed on the ring anymore. Maybe even discriminatory.

Hi Miguel

From how I read it theses regulations are imposed not just on the track but also apply to public roads use

Just something to be wary of too

Thanks for clearing that up, have been trying to work out what it was!

That's of some concern. There's going to be a lot of drivers from both the UK and Germany not able to drive on their roads if this is implemented. I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned in more mainstream news.

Auto express also had a piece on this a couple of weeks ago and it said that it was the driving to and from the track that was the concern as a number of speed related accidents had happened recently.

They are also having a clampdown on cars with illegal modifications

There are a lot of drivers at the ring who can only be described as, erm, foolhardy. Plus there are the massive convoys who seem to believe the famously de-restricted German autobahns stretch from Calais all the way to Nurburg. It's not really surprising that the police get ticked off with them.

They've been 'clamping down' for years though, this isn't new. Every year something like this is leaked to keep the rumour mill spinning, and to prevent the worst of the hassle.

However.

They've also been 'clamping down' on Amsterdam's more fun activities, and as far as I can tell nothing much has changed.

If you're (relatively) sensible on the way to the 'Ring and know how to drive on German roads then you've got absolutely nothing to worry about.

Also, every time I've taken the Supe over there the Germans have nothing but love for her :)
