Matt _Aero top_
hi folks right i got the supra up and running today after it being stood and not really driven since my son was born 5 months ago . upon taking her for a spin i noticed the red triangle light on , Mil light and O/D light flashing , Now heres my problem ..... i know from experience that this is an error code of 42 and its number one speed sensor as i've had this problem before with the exact same symptoms as before ( Light stearing ) i fixed this before by doing the the joining of the pink and blue wires if i remember correctly . So my question is if i have already done this fix ( abit of a shoddy way i know ) and the problems come back 2-3 years later , what next to fix it ? Ric
maybe a dodgy speedo convertor? or replace the speed sensor itself
Matt _Aero top_
silly question but where can these be found and is there any way of testing them to see if it is that at fault .
Guest Luigi
First thing to look at before you spend money on spare parts or cutting and splicing wires, is to check the pink wire in the electrical connector that plugs into the 'back' of the odometer. 1. Ignition off with battery disconnected. 2. Get access to the odo connector and remove the connector, check for a good contact with connector pin (on the pink wire). Clean if necessary. Also, check/remove/clean the pink wire connection into the ecu. 3. Put it all back together, reconnect battery, clear the error code and go for a spin to check. No guarantee it will fix your prob. but it worked for me. (6 spd tt) Edited September 12, 2009 by Luigi (see edit history)

MarkR
Has your car been converted from KPH to MPH. Maybe a faulty converter?

dukenukem
I had error code 42 a few weeks ago when we were playing around with the ECU to plug in an AFR gauge. The car wouldn't go above 2nd gear! Turns out a black wire in amongst the hundreds in the loom had come loose. Connected it the chassis to ground it and it was fine.
