Aweegin
Hi.. I have run one of THESE now for 3 years with no issues what so ever. Did a lot of research at the time of purchase, yes its expensive but I cant fault the performance and ease of configuration..in general and port forwarding. Pc gamed through it.. now on the ps3 wireless via it, good as gold. EDIT: i should add the router goes through 2 solid internal walls that separate it from the PS3 and i get around 80% signal @ PS3...which has always been fine. Would not hesitate to buy another if it ever broke down... I am ADSL but there are Cable versions.. just do a little research

JustGav
Linksys gets my vote, firmware mods are available for some versions such as signal boosting. Also Linksys is cisco
Pete
You don't need a 'cable' router. You just need a wireless router (ie not ADSL). Netgear are hugely popular and generally reliable. I run a Buffalo with DRT-WW custom BIOS, but that's because I'm a nerd.

Also Linksys is cisco I wouldn't put too much credence in the whole Cisco/Linksys brand - they're still quite different products.
JustGav
I wouldn't put too much credence in the whole Cisco/Linksys brand - they're still quite different products. This is true, I have however found the consumer linksys support rather good. The products themselves work well (although I will add the power supplies were(are) an issue point.) Scott
I would recommend Linksys, however don't go with the WRT160N like i did. Its a cracking router with my desktop but it doesn't work great with my laptop. I get signal drops all the time, going through the forums it seems like a very common issue that they haven't put their finger on. In fact, disregard all of that. Do you want to buy my WRT160n? I would go with the 300, the 400 or the 610 if i was spending the money again.
