Interesting info about the GT-R in this months EVO.

In their Fast Fleet section David Yu takes his GT-R to a rolling road to get some answers on its power.

Nissan say: 478bhp

Surrey Rolling Road says: 512bhp with peak torque of 500lb ft (this is with a Milltek Y-Pipe)

SRR again and stock GT-R with only 1500 miles on it: 506bhp and 485lb ft of torque

SRR yet again David Yu's GT-R with a European GT-R specific remap (Stage 1 97 RON) via a Cobb AccessPort tuning gizmo :

547bhp and 530lb ft of torque!

0-60 down to 3.2 secs from 3.9 (measured with Racelogic Performance Box)

0-100 down to 7.6secs from 8.4.

Not at all bad for £750 plus VAT and it reinforces what many have suspected all along. Basically, Nissan are big fibbers.:D

Get to it, Jurgen.:D:d

I wished 750 notes would get a Supes 0-60 down to 3.2 secs

£7,500 wouldn't even get a Supes 0-60 below 4 let alone 3.2 secs (unfortunately).

Still much better looking then the Hog modelled GTR.

Having seen a few of them over the last few months, I have to say the white really suits the car more than any colour. Luckily Chiefgroover took me for a brief spin in his one, the performance of it waa amazing for a "standard" car.

Not surprised at those power figures though, good deal for that access port, I think GT-Culture are the dealer for them in the uk.

I have a friend with a red one, it's massive and makes my Supra look like an MX5 when parked side by side. It's technologically awesome inside and it's a very fast car. £750 for such an improvement is good, but consider the downsides he's found already:

Driver's side wiper - £110+vat

Front splitter (the lower part of the bumper) - £1600+vat (it comes as part of the undertray)

New tyre due to puncture - £600+vat - freaky bespoke 20" run flats or something. 2 weeks delivery because there weren't any in the country.

Mmm. I don't think I can ever call it attractive, either, perhaps "striking" :)

I also used to think these were pretty hideous until I saw a lovely gunmetal one which totally made me rethink my opinion on them.

It looked fantastic and actually pretty classy in that particular colour.

As Ian has said though, don't fancy those bills for parts even if you can get more power that cheaply :D

Ah! So that's why it's so cheap (relatively speaking). Nissan will recoup the money of spares. £110 for a wiper! Far cough...:D

I wonder what the average running costs is for one of these compared to say a 911 turbo over 50k miles, considering everyone's original reaction was that it was a 'supercar for half the price' and 'showing those expensive premium marques the way forward'.

If I had a GTR, the smile on my face when lining up against a 911 turbo would be quickly wiped off when I had to pay £690 for a tyre

Wowsers Scooby!

Hopefully time will reduce those prices a little. I guess they want to keep it exclusive.

I thought that when I saw Jurgen's at Pod, I for some reason expected it to be smaller than it is. Similar to the new scooby vs the old one.

The GTR has a HHHUUUGE rear end :)

Come one, Nissan have to make their money back somehow. They did after all discount the car. :D

do the £600+vat freaky bespoke 20inch run flat tyres have to be replaced with other £600+vat freaky bespoke 20inch run flat tyres?

Only if you want to use the car. :p

I'm guessing the fact they are bespoke indicates that only one company makes tyres that size.
