RobD
Having Sky HD installed on the 24th, can you have 2 boxes run off one phone line? Reason I ask is that me and the misses are getting sky hd in our room and her dad is having virgin hd downstairs but we'll have to use the same phone line, will this cause a problem? Spoke to sky about the phone line and they said as long as there is a phone line (any provider) it will be ok but didnt want to tell them about virgin incase they got funny about is as virgin wouldnt put 2 hd boxes in one house for some reason. Thanks for any info in advance! Rob
Gaz6002
You can't have Sky and Virgin on the same phone line, but Sky may well install a new one, a BT engineer will have to come out and it should cost £25.
RobD
How do I go about this then? just contact sky and tell them about virgin and they'll arrange it ?
Gaz6002
How do I go about this then? just contact sky and tell them about virgin and they'll arrange it ? Yes, make sure you do it through Sky. You'll also get free evening and weekend landline calls and 2mb broadband for free if you get a Sky line put in. RobD
How much extra is it a month? Or is that all included with the sky package?
Gaz6002
How much extra is it a month? Or is that all included with the sky package? It's £10 line rental if I remember right, but you get a £10 discount on the HD so it doesn't cost any extra. That's why the HD deal is so good. It's only the £25 flat fee for the line. RobD
We've paid for the installation and got the hd box free, its cost us £30 for the installation. How comes it needs a phone line anyway?
RobD
They did say on the phone that they can use any line?

RobD
I will get the misses to phone them tomorrow and get her to sort it out! Been waiting for sky hd for ages, haven't it booked thought I was home and dry

For the interactive features, box office, software updates etc Its actually for a line check that they do every month so they know if it is in the same location and you havent moved it. Fitz
When you get it all installed do a search on here for 'ITV HD' as a member posted a "how to" thread. Works Great, can't remember who it was though

RobD
Just found the link to the ITV HD seems quite good, hope i get EPG now! Spoke to the misses and she's phoning first thing, she loves speaking to them on my behave, last time she phoned i made her ask if the box was black as it wouldnt go with my tv , stand and ps3otherwise apparently it does . Will the BT line be put in the same time as the HD box or before? As i'm taking the day off work when Sky come because I need to move things around in the bedroom so its easier for them to install, may put the tv on the wall to
Fitz
i made her ask if the box was black as it wouldnt go with my tv , stand and ps3otherwise apparently it does . LOL!!! That's like my Sky HD box, blends in nicely with the Playstation 3 and the TV on the Wall, all Black
Gaz6002
Well it was Telewest at the time and then changed to Virgin. Telewest still uses a BT line though. Virgin doesn't. Its actually for a line check that they do every month so they know if it is in the same location and you havent moved it. But you can't get box office, interactive or software updates without a phone line.
Jake
You don't have to have ANY phone line for the Sky/Sky+/SkyHD boxes to work. I've got three Sky boxes in my house and none of them have been plugged into a phone line since the day they were installed.

RobD
My other half phoned this morning and they told her that aslong as its a working line then they can install HD! Doesnt matter about it being virgin and that it will already have a Virgin hd box running of it already! They said it was basically for the interactive features and box office, No need for a bt phone line, unless you have multiroom installed now! RobD
When we tried getting multi room in our last place we were told to have a bt line, but definitely couldnt use a virgin line! I reckon they must've changed it around as the virgin broadband is one of the best for actually getting your speed your suppose to be getting, they must've thought that there loosing to many customers perhaps??!
