Chris Wilson
I believe Lionel's father died in a hillclimb accident, but it sure hasn't slowed him down! I had cause to ring his company in France a couple of weeks ago, and my French being all but none existent I tentatively asked "Do you speak English". This very cultured, heavily French accented voice replied, "Naturally, we are not savages you know?", which I thought kind of cool

Chris Wilson
It is with huge sadness I have just read that Lionel Regal died in a hillclimb accident on the 15th of this month in Switzerland. He used to own my Lola F3000 and in my two brief exchanges with him he was both amusing and very helpful. Rest in peace. The deaths of father and son in similar tragic accidents is very sad, but both obviously loved this very dangerous sport and only knew how to give 100% to it. dr_jekyll
so sad , but im sure he wouldnt have wanted to go any other way. i like to think talent like that will continue to race on the big race track in the sky with all the greats that died doing what they loved . Chris Wilson
It's odd how the Swiss banned motor racing on circuits, yet allowed extraordinarily long and fast hillclimbing on frankly treacherous routes with inches between the car doing 160 and huge trees and ravines.
