jackso11
I have taken a roof top spoiler off my car and now have the remains of the sticky pads left on there. Any ideas how to get it off? I have tried sticky stuff remover and it doesnt work. White spirit doesnt work or soapy water
DaveR
Heat it up very gently with a heat gun and it'll peal away in one bit. Any mild residue can then be tackled with Sticky Stuff Remover.
SUPRALOOPY
As said above. the sticky stuff remover will be tar and glue remover from any good motorfactors or spirit wipe.

vvteye
I had a load of this on second hand skirts. You can get a drill atachment which has a creamy rubber type disc which JodyT had and he stuck this on a drill and 'grinded' it off (not course enough to damage the surface). The final clean up was done with spirits then. PM him for more details if the tar remover fails.

Yep thats what I used on my surf when I removed the bits over the side windows there is nothing as effective and if you use it carefully it will not cause any damage to the surface. pbryant_knight
have you tried Lighter fluid? That's an old graphics trick for removing anything sticky. I've recently used it to remove the remnenets of the sticky stuff from Badges and the Sikoflex bodykit adhesive that i managed to get all over my Trans Am when fitting the rear lights. jackso11
tar remover no good. Tried it on sunday. The problem is the foam part of the pad is still on there. I tried using a head gun, it does actually melt a little and go soft, but anything I use to try and scrape it (gym card, starbucks card, plastic polyfiller spreader) just goes soft from the heat and doesn't help. More ideas please
simbasupra
I'd use a caramel wheel on a drill: http://www.completepaints.co.nz/images/products/TLH4100%20Caramel%20Wheel.jpg They are also known as pinstripe removers/erasers, toffee wheels. http://www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&keywords=Eraser&rh=i%3Aautomotive%2Ck%3AEraser&page=1 Edited September 22, 2009 by simbasupra (see edit history)

jackso11
took me 4 hours to remove 2 vinyl 'ADVAN RACING' stickers from my last supra...looks like this could have done it in minutes!
simbasupra
It is an amazing tool, however just be careful when using it. Dont stay in one spot for too long, dont apply hard pressure, and keep the speed off the highest setting, otherwise you could burn the paint.
