derren brown on tonight

He made out that a group of 24 (?) volunteers used "automatic" writing and studied a load of previous lottery results and tried to work out what the next result would be and then averaged the groups prediction. Basically a load of rubbish lol

Much obliged...

Anyone catch the unnecessary use of 'handsome' in his intro, the 23 in the corner of the screen and some others I noted at the time but forget now.

The whole thing was a front for something larger. At the end of the series I'm thinking he'll go back over everything to point out exactly what he wanted from us in each programme.

I noticed he said handsome, didn't notice any numbers, but I noticed that woman came up to the stage before he asked her to so obviously a (bad) actor.

I'm probably going to be working Friday evenings so will miss the series, shame cos I like him he's very clever. His tricks are much more entertaining that 'normal' magic.

Well that sounds like a load of image. So you can calculate what numbers are going to come out on the lottery?

TV trickerey for the first one then? I only watched a tiny clip on youtube.

As I've been saying it wasn't about the Lottery draw it was about prepping us for something bigger.

I think you're right. Also, an awful lot of references to mices.:D

Didn't see the 23 though.

FWIW Martin is on the money.

You're the magician chap. I was trying to remember who it was. What do you think he's up to?

BTW I found this earlier:

http://www.holymoly.com/celebrity-ne...38/page-3.html

A source tells us...

"Over the last few weeks Derren has stolen more than £5000 from someone - he did this via hypnosis so the person will have no idea that even they met him, let alone awareness they were robbed (it could be any one of us!) At some point in the near future Derren is going to phone the person from a casino and explain he took their savings. Then he will use his gambling mind power to multiply the cash before returning it to them."

So check your account ASAP!

It's not me. I don't have £5000!:(

I honestly have no idea what he is up to. He is doing a lot of very old and simple "magic tricks" and putting a bit of garnish on them. I am 99% sure he used camera trickery to pull the stunt with the lottery but i think, as you do, its a means to an end. His saving grace tonight was explaining the coin toss as i was getting pretty pissed off with all the crap he was putting out as fact.

I just read a quote from Paul Daniels in one of the papers. He said that Derren would explain his feat with a lot of gobbeldy gook. The old guy still has it lol.

I personally don't like Derren Brown, i can see why he is liked though. The thing i really don't like is his dishonesty when making himself look honest to the audience. All magicians are fooling the "layman", he is trying to become one of the layman being fooled himself. Just doesn't sit well with me.

His effect on Wednesday was very well pulled off but now he is just milking it for all its worth. He is walking down the same path as Blain, we have all seen it though. Its old hat as far as i'm concerned.

I'll still watch though ;)

How does he do that thing where, while blindfolded, he targets a member of the audience and tells them stuff about themselves. That's impressive.

Oh, and next weeks subliminal thing won;t have anything subliminal about it. People will 'believe' it though.

One more thing, all the backwards stuff for this series. Where's that leading to I wonder.

Still don't get it.:search:

What Axle's clip shows is that one of the balls in the fake side of the screen 'moves' when the still image switches to the live footage. Probably due to an assistant not putting it back properly. Whether it was intentional or an accident is not important though.

He is lying basically. Thats the take i have on most of what he does.

Did you ever watch him at the greyhound track? He talked about psychology and how if you are firm with what you say you can effect peoples judgement?

He said he didn't use hypnotism or actors. It was one of the two as everytime he lost a bet he went to the window & slammed his hand on the wall to trigger the response. The person behind the counter paid out even though his dog lost. He just said it won, and slammed his hand, to get paid out. A passer by tried it and it didn't work, shocker!

He is full of shit, never believe a word he says. Its obviously deliberate though. This is what brings out the curiosity in myself.
