adnanshah247
now ok guys Ashbhp and Jamie and SteveR bought to my attention back in llandow that hitting rev limiter at stand still is dangerous for the engine and that i could injure someone with pieces flying out of my block. my question is this, what if you hit the rev limiter whilst in gear. i have noticed sometimes i hit the rev limiter in 1st, 2nd and 3rd when im belting it........ i have seen lots of members footage as well were they are hitting the limiter....... willl i blow up my engine ? Guigsy
Just learn to change gear properly. Then it doesnt look like you dont know what your doing.
Abz
Not really whilst moving I guess as you have air going into the engine etc... I could understand if you standing still & revving the nuts off it at the lights, so enough of that! I use to redline my EG Civic all day long, I mean just dipping into the redline... The TT Supra block should be able to handle around 600-800bhp safely without bits flying out of the engine! So stop revving your car at the lights Adnan! caseys
Stop calling it a rev limiter. It's a Fun limiter. Maybe get a huge rev gauge with a change warning light? The redline on the gauge is there for a reason and the limiter even more so haven't hit the limiter in my car yet. Think i reached the limiter in my last one once in the 5 odd years of ownership. With a car like yours and you are racing silly little M3's! You should be ashamed of yourself! I eat them for breakfast in my Auto TT

Gaz6002
I think most of the vids you've seen are of 2 step rev limiters
Swampy442
The rev limiter is there as a safety feature to save your engine, hitting it now and again isnt a problem
SteveR
The rev limiter is there as a safety feature to save your engine, hitting it now and again isnt a problem At worst it's shortening the life of the engine and at best it's just pointless: most power/torque curves show significant drop-off way before the redline, and going to the next gear a few hundred revs before can often result in more acceleration Vs staying in gear longer: I'd be amazed if anyone could tell the difference on the road though, either way. Play it safe, change up 500 revs "early", still win.
Wez
I think most of the vids you've seen are of 2 step rev limiters They essentially work in a similar way just lower down the rev range. They work by cutting/retarding ign and/or cutting fuel. Retarding ignition will cause combustion with exhaust valves open and will spool the turbo, ie launch control. Cutting the ignition will allow unburnt fuel to pass into the exhaust manifold which can then ignite and give you nice big bangs and flames while also spooling the turbo, again like launch control. Fuel cut normally comes after ignition cut as you dont want to ignite a small amount of fuel and create a lean condition. ie ign around 7200 and fuel around 7400.
