Kev_A
[ANGRY][/ANGRY] Well, the tax on the Supra had ran out the end of August, didn't have the cash to renew straight away but obviously had the 7 days to get it sorted. So I went to do it on friday evening online when I got paid, tapped in the renewal details then clicked next only to be greeted by red letters informing me that no insurance records could be found. Odd thought I as I've been making the payments for it since I got the car at the end of March. Tried it again and the same thing came up, it was too late to ring the insurer (Elephant) so I waited until saturday morning. Rang them up 1st thing and told them the situation. Now, soon after I bought the car I had my private plate transferred on to it, at the time I rang Elephant and told them accordingly, I was charged £12.50 for the privelage So as it turns out, they'd taken my money but hadn't bothered changing the details on the database, so as far as the taxing office is aware, there's no insurance for my car! So to say I'm not pleased is an understatement! Anyway, they changed the details, said they'd send me a new certificate etc. The tax website says to try again in 24 hours so I tried yesterday.....No joy And again just before.....Still saying I have no insurance, rang Elephant back and they said it could take up to a week for the details to show up on the database! They only advice they could give me was to ask the post office if they'd accept a faxed copy of the insurance certificate, no good to me though as I fly out on holiday for a week tommorow, so intead I've had to SORN the car I haven't driven it for over a week! Was going to tax it at the weekend to drive to my parents and get it all cleaned and polished and fit my EBC then tuck it up while I'm away, will start again when I get back I suppose. Suppose I've saved myself a months tax Rant over.
Gaz6002
What a joke! Demand your £12.50 back.
DaveK
Although it's clear Elephant screwed up - weren't you a little surprised you hadn't received a new certificate with the correct registration details on it?
AlexJames
A very similar thing happened to me! except I was pulled over by the police, couldnt prove it on the road side and got my CRX impounded
Kev_A
Although it's clear Elephant screwed up - weren't you a little surprised you hadn't received a new certificate with the correct registration details on it? This is true, albeit at the time I'd recently been handed the keys to my first Supra so my mind was elsewhere Admittedly I should have checked for this, but you'd think all of the money we hand to insurance companies the very least they could get right is the admin work

Hmmm. Show me that in writing somewhere official.
