Durandal
So I only have access to 91 Octane in Canada where I live. Can I tune my car to run on 91 octane at BPU around 16-17 psi? Or do I have to get meth/water injection?
Scott
I asked this question about american fuels. The answer i was given is that even though the octane figure is lower something else is much much purer making the fuel far superior. I have no idea of any of the terminology or why this is the case, its just something that i was told on here. If the Canadian fuels are the same then i think you may be in with a shout. I would hold off until someone who really knows their fuels, and can explain the above, replies though.
Durandal
Yah I have heard that the japanese and euro values were slightly difference but I think that would only put me at 93-94.
Homer
Yah I have heard that the japanese and euro values were slightly difference but I think that would only put me at 93-94. Japan and Europe use RON as the index for fuel In the US and Canada a mix of RON and MON is used for the fuel index, most commonly called AKI over here. 95 RON is equal to 90-91 AKI 97-98 RON is equal to 93-94 AKI (The one you will need for a jspec TT) AKI is actually the better measure of fuel quality. Chris Wilson
I'd say you need to bump the octane up a few points to run that boost safely. Either by mixing with some race fuel, or some Avgas, which will (slowly) knacker any O2 sensors, but will be a lot cheaper to buy, even over there, I should think.
