icemanv6
I just had my car serviced on Thursday with a new cam-belt fitted, I was driving the car yesterday when I noticed the temperature needle slowly going up..It would rise quite quickly to about 3/4ths of the way up then slowly drop down a little, then go back up, and repeat even when the car was stationary..turned the engine off and all I could hear was the coolant? bubbling. I checked the coolant level today and it was virtually empty, topped it up tried again, and got the same problem as yesterday turned it off and just hear boiling/bubbling again, only used the car twice since the service/cam-belt change and I had no problems prior to it being done. any ideas? Homer
Dodgy thermostat or rad cap seems most likely. However it might also be a pump issue if the cam belt was recently changed, but I would't have expected the temp to drop if it was that... snake
coolant air lock?
Chris Wilson
Fit a new thermostat and a new cap and hope. Next step is a coolant pressure test and a combustion gasses in coolant test, plus a full physical look at the pump itself, off the engine if compressions, leak down and gas tests are OK. I have caps and `stats in stock.
icemanv6
Took it back to the garage, and it seems to be OK now. The guy said it looks like it could be an coolant air lock as snake said as they did some pressure tests on it and there was no leaks, will see how it run's for now anymore problem's and will need to investigate further, thanks for the help!
