tomssupra
Hi, Does anyone know if it's possible to get a Matte effect in Photoshop? Is it an actual colour? or perhaps a texture? Thanks,
jevansio
Lol, I went searching for this the other day, couldn't find anything conclusive anywhere on google

Guigsy
as in remove reflections? One of the layer filters might do that. Not sure which one though.
Axle
Matte? You know, the finish that looks like the car needs a clean - No matter how hard you try.

tomssupra
Matte Black... http://px6.streetfire.net/0001/01/11/1431011_600.jpg Satin is the same too I think... Anyway, don't think you can... nevermind
Scott
I would just call that matt black. Didn't realise it had an "e" on the end of it lol. like this
jevansio
Would a very small gaussian blur do that? Will give it a try
jevansio
I tried adjusting the levels (ie turn a white to black image into a grey to black - gets rid of highlights on the paint), then did a gausian blur. Did one panel at a time to retain the edges. This is half done so you can compare panels
Scott
I would do exactly what you did Jay cept i would say to make a copy of the original frame and then adjust the opacity to make it appear more realistic.

Ahh, so create the new image ontop the bring the original image underneath to provide highlights on the paint, I'll try a full one tomorrow when I'm not so drunk
Scott
Yup thats the chap. Its difficult to do things with black (as i found out) and i found that the best way was to duplicate the layer, mess with the copy and then play about with the opacity. jevansio
Also it may be worth removing colour from the modified image, I can still see blue sky in mine which wouldn't be in a matt paint
tomssupra
interesting... thanks, i'll give it a go
PJ
There is a difference between Satin and Matt black, I found this out after having big arguments with the sprayer that sprayed my car Satin when it was supposed to be Matt!!
