Guest suprabass
Ok Ive been through countless threads today trying to see what the cause of the smoke would be and I see all relate to turbo or valve stem failure. Now my story is Ive had my engine rebuilt and checked over by SSI the head was a new PHR standard performance head so guessing its had new valve stem seals when the valves and springs were replaced in a new toyota head, Bottem end was fine when it was checked aswell. The turbo has been on a car before but has only been used on two drag runs, there is no oil in the intake ppes but havnt got checking the downpipe side yet. Engine hasnt been started in a year also. What could it be? Thanks in advance

BlackWatch66
I would check your downpipe side first, also how long has it been doing this? (and how much have you run it since it wasnt used for a year?)
Guest suprabass
checking the downpipe side tomorrow Car was just started for about 30secs then turned off rechecked everything, oil, water, other fluids, and for leaks which was one on the oil inlet to the turbo, Then it was re started 30secs checking for leaks etc so it hasnt been started much. Swampy442
Blue smoke is generally turbo seals or piston rings dude. Let it get fully warm first, take it for a spin then see whats what. Does it smoke constantly or just on start up?
Chris Wilson
Did the bottom end get bored or honed with new pistons and rings? Or left untouched? Assume nothing, a mega mega expensive Skyline engine I saw a bit ago had the wrong size valve stem seals fitted, they were for 8mm valves, not 7 mm. It smoked like a good `un. Other nasties came to light too. The poor sap had seen no change from 30K for the engine ....
Guest suprabass
both sides of the turbo are clear no oil in the downpipe or the intake pipes, Could it just be with it not being started? its only been started according for about 30secs each time. which i just got told there. I no not to assume anything but i do trust SSI with the engine work. Pistons werent removed the bottem end was untouched just a check over for any visable signs of wear and tear. BlackWatch66
yeah let it warm up, drive it for a while, watch your gauges and listen to noises, watch for when you get smoke (ie over-run, on boost, startup, idle etc) Then check your oil levels, and then report back. I expect its just clearing its throat and needs a DAMN GOOD THRASHING:D
