Read through the whole thread and had a good laugh or two ^^ I did also see some stuff which I have done myself...

1. Windows switch on my first car, a Prelude. Could not for the life of me figure out why the passenger window did not work. Disassembled the whole door and checked every wire and checked it with a volt meter with no luck. Discussed the issue with someone else later that day and they mentioned the switch... DOH!

2. Replaced the clutch on my S2000 at home on floor jacks took two days as I work late. Only to realize I did not lubricate where the throw-out bearing slides. So it would stick for 10 seconds before I could put it in first and reverse. Down with the gearbox again :( But It did fix the issue tho. Was my first clutch change, but I will have that in mind for future swaps :D

  • 8 months later...

My mate gave me a jump starter pack that he got from a Mazda dealership. They left it in his car but 6 months later never asked for it back so he gave it to me.

Anyway somehow in my boot on the way home it fell over and the the two clips that attach to the battery connected with each other.

Guess i should of fastened it down properly :(

Took my single turbo off my last supra as it needed a refurb. It came back a week later looking like spanking new, for the pricely sum of £700. Whilst refitting it i noticed i was a nut down, so i went to get a new one and continued with refitting.

Started the car up to take if for a test drive, heard a quick metal clanging then all sounded well, except the turbo wasn't spinning. Took it back off and it had a nut jammed in the exhaust turbine :taped: It must have fallen into the manifold when i took the turbo off :( Turbo was toast, had to send it back off again.

I also snapped a spark plug in the same car, and then the bloody extractor whilst trying to get the broken plug out. I had to use a dremel and carbide cutters to remove the extractor and the remains of the plug, then hoover out the bore.

Bad times.

I once filled my ford escort van engine right to the top with oil then tried to drive to london......... i didn`t make it:blink:

I topped my oil up in my first Corrado without paying much attention to the level. I have never seen so much smoke come from a vehicle :D

Brilliant thread!

1. Disconnecting my hid ballast then reconnecting whilst the lights where on. Huge blue arc and a sore arm for the rest of the day.

2. Just finished an oil change. Whist driving off from my unit heard a bang whilst I hit a pot hole. Checked something under the bonnet when I got home. No oil cap in sight. Rushed back to the unit in another car to see a load of smashed plastic which used to be an oil cap next to the pot hole. Either my self or someone else ran it over.

3. Whist fitting a supercharger cradle on my old is200 I got my arm stuck twisted whilst holding a spanner though the cradle. Was stuck for 5 mins. 127hours moment right there.

Not my on my car, but this happened just under 2 years ago....

I was laying into a ball joint splitter with a dead blow hammer. The ball joint split and the splitter slipped just as I threw the hammer, and everything went in slow motion as I smashed the bone in my hand. Whoops.

How a set of genuine BBS Lm wheels caused me so much trouble.

After months of searching for Genuine BBS Lm wheels frustration gathered, couldn't find genuine BBS Lm's for my Supra. Me the impatient Di!""£"@ that I am bought a set off eBay knowing full well they would require adaptors (5x100 to 5x114.3 PCD fitment) & also a REFURB etc & EVEN after you lot told me not to run adaptors...Guess what I go any buy adaptors only days later (25mmthickness). I end up not only wasting my time because the damn wheels stuck way past the fenders (currently going through a claim with eBay to return the Adaptors) The only way I could perhaps get the wheels to stick inline with the fenders would mean I’d have to purchase 15mm thickness adaptors which by the way costs £350 as it would need to be custom made! (Which I didn’t do)

Now here is where the nightmare begins, I put the wheels on eBay, plenty of interest judging by the 'watch list count' no offers as of yet....Next thing you know I decline an offer of £1250. Turns out the guy who's offer I rejected was annoyed as he messages me straight away as his offer was supposedly the 'going price'.

Now here is the Crazy part, after 2 weeks of haggling me the same buyer, yes off eBay lmao messages me on Whatsapp. I send him pics saying lets do a deal outside of eBay etc. (Tbf the wheels weren't split in there time when they underwent refurb another schoolboy error by me not to check fully as to why they weren't split at the time) and therefore he had VALID points in the end I sell'em for a reduced price £1150 (£100 less from his original offer) but you'd have thought the story would have ended here. He messages me saying text me your postcode I’ll come collect Easter Sunday.

Then he messages me 3 days later ONLY to change his mind and whatsapp me at 2:45 in the morning & say if we can’t do a deal of 1k I’m out..., so I blank him & I'm just fed up at this point.

What do you know, 2 days later he offers £1150, I said deal, please no messing about.

He arranges a day & time to actually come to Manchester to collect wheels, he's from Essex & wanted to haggle me even more to cover his fuel cost as he doesn't drive a Diesel! (I bought my Supra from Essex so I know how long the journey is so I knocked £50 off) Anyway, the dude sets off & texts me to say "I'm well on my way, will be at yours for 6pm" only to text me again (45 mins later) informing me that he’s broke down on the Motroway, can you imagine my feeling at this point after 'texting eachother' throughout the 2 weeks of him haggling me we never once spoke to each other over the phone…So I get to hear his voice, at this stage it sounds desperate. “Mate, I’ve come all this way, I’m 1 hour away can you not drop the wheels off to me MY car won’t move, will have to be towed back with AA.” To which I responded how do you intend to take the wheels back home? He said “in my Golf as we will be in the AA van getting towed back”

Hours earlier in the day, my Dad wanted help with some of his cars etc at which point I said I'm busy, he later found out I would be travelling to Stoke on Trent with wheels in my 1.0 VVTI Yaris at 8pm. Bearing in mind It's getting dark & my dads heard half the story with this BBS guy coming to pick up but never shows up. So my Dads response is, ”leave it, this does not sound legit, he’s been haggling you for 2 weeks this is a set-up!!” Anyway ... family start to suspect he could be having me off as he said he’s parked in between 2 Lorries & blah blah the story sounds a bit ‘FISHY’.

Anyway I took his word, I thought he's been after these wheels for 2 weeks & seems keen. He actually could be broken down. I and a mate drive down hitting 100 all the way as he tells me AA will be recovering his car within 45mins so I need to beat AA before they reach him. Bearing in mind he just said he’s stuck on ‘Utoxxeter Rd on the Motorway with no pin-point address. All he said was - “Look out for a silver broken down Golf mark 4” I'm just thinking WTF in my head but just driving hoping everything is real.

The road to where he is parked happens to be BLOCKED! So I take diversions but can’t get the message through to the guy that diversions would take me past the 1hour I initially told him I'd be there in. Anyway after rallying down A roads with BBS wheels in the back of my Yaris he managed to convince the AA driver to meet-up at local chefs Service station. In the end it turns out the dude was genuine & he travelled down in his mum’s car, with cash in hand no faffin etc. Had I been a min late the whole plan would have failed as the AA team are on a ‘timer’ & can only wait so long.

The moral of the story is short & simple, I for one need to wake the Fu$£ UP & remember no matter how bad someone may seem they could be genuine.

LASTLY, If it ain't JAP it's most probably CRAP!

I did that, the arc went in through the base of my thumb and out through my elbow where I was leaning on the cars slam panel. Couldn't feel or move my arm for about half an hour. I scared the crap out of myself thinking I'd paralysed it

Not a Supra story, but amusing all the same. I used to work for an insurance claims assessor. Kwik Fit had just been handed the servicing contract for Enterprise rent-a-car and we were called out to look at a van which had just been serviced and gave up the ghost a few miles down the road.

Turns out the guy servicing the van had drained the oil, measured how much came out and then filled it up with the same amount...

In actual fact what he'd done was drain the gearbox oil!

one overfilled engine and one empty gearbox = boom
