AdzC
Why do people on the motorway feel that they are on a mission to prove something? I was driving along the M61 today heading for a days shopping at the Trafford Centre when I saw a white VW Scirocco appraoching behind me. It was raining and I was taking it easy with the flow of traffic between 70 and 80ish when Scirocco man pulls right up to my rear bumper and flashed his lights for me to move over. I ignored him and carried on for about a mile as there was nowehere I could realistically go anywhere although Scirocco man keeps flashing his lights as though he's somebody improtant. The motorway clears and so as per the highway code etc I then move over to the nearside lane at which point Scirocco man pulls level with me and starts laughing and putting his four fingers up whilst mouthing something. He then accelerated off nearly crashing up the chuff of at least two other cars in the third lane as he did. No point to my post other than where do these people get off driving like tools on a busy and wet motorway. Thanks for reading *Rant over*
ellis
Four fingers may denote an ex-Supra owner - I thought that was the 'Forum' hello!! Failing that, he might have been saying "Four inches, that's all I've got!" or "Four miles before I plough into the chuff end of a Stobart lorry", perhaps even "Four brain cells, that's all it took to buy a VW Golf in a ra-ra skirt, I fell for the hype". I could speculate that he was saying "Four thousand revs and this oil burner runs out of puff, what was I thinking?"
AdzC
Four fingers may denote an ex-Supra owner - I thought that was the 'Forum' hello!! Really? Never heard that one. Didn't like his attitude anyway and his driving was just plain reckless.
Havard
He may just be a big Mkiv fan or a complete tool... I know when I have been in the Audi and seen a Supra I have wanted to show my appreciation I have wondered about giving them the thumbs up but then thought that they may think that I am wierd maybe?? The one I drove was a 2.0 TSi, maybe he drove the same & thought he was the fastest car on the road? 4, Maybe meant thats how much he can count up to? Hoping you would praise him. RedM
Did you know that the 'four fingers' thing was a product of mine and Ed Suprastar3000's fevered imaginations? There's a special geek award for anyone who can explain why the salute is like it is.
marbleapple
What a nice chest you have Gaz What realy annoys me about motorways is the idiots who tootle along int he outside lane (the overtaking lane) at speeds far below those of other drivers. I always think people who refuse to move over when someone is gaining on them have something to prove and it realy annoys me especially when I want to get somewhere. AdzC
I certainly didn't get the impression he was a fellow MKIV (ex)owner just a kn0b. What realy annoys me about motorways is the idiots who tootle along int he outside lane (the overtaking lane) at speeds far below those of other drivers. I always think people who refuse to move over when someone is gaining on them have something to prove and it realy annoys me especially when I want to get somewhere. If that is aimed at me I explained in my original post that I was going with the flow of traffic and had nowhere to go to let him pass. There is this misconception that the 3rd lane is the 'fast lane'. I moved over into the nearside lane as soon as was safe for me to do so which is why he then ploughed on and nearly into a couple more cras. marbleapple
If that is aimed at me I explained in my original post that I was going with the flow of traffic and had nowhere to go to let him pass.. Not aimed at anyone mate although reading back it does look that way. No insult intended. There is this misconception that the 3rd lane is the 'fast lane'. I was merely trying to point out that there is also a misconception that the outside lane is the slow cruise lane. I see this every time I am on the motorway and it made my blood boil. All but the inside lane are overtaking lanes so technically the outside lane should be faster than the other lanes.
Snooze
Maybe he did it because he was pissed off that you block up the parent & child parking bays when people that really need the room to get their kids out want them?
Jake
He then accelerated off nearly crashing up the chuff of at least two other cars in the third lane as he did.I can't figure out he could have done this, to two cars I mean. Could you explain for me?

There appears to be no motorway discipline in this country, mainly I think because it is not taught as part of the basic driving test. Maybe he did it because he was pissed off that you block up the parent & child parking bays when people that really need the room to get their kids out want them? Probably. Although that post should have had a sarcasm warning.
AdzC
I can't figure out he could have done this, to two cars I mean. Could you explain for me? Certainly Jake. After I pulled over he accelerated right up to the back of the vehicle whch was travelling in front of me, which then pulled into lane 2. He then did the same to the next vehicle and so on. Ah, gotcha now. Cheers. In that case it sounds like he was one of those people that tailgates folks aggressively because usually folk just move over rather than get into a conflict.
