Jake
"Caliper carriers"? Is that the right term for the bracket things used to fit non-standard brake calipers to a car? I know BMW use these type things on the M3 CSL, which has the same suspension and calipers as the vanilla M3 but larger diameter discs. How would one go about getting a set of these carrriers/brackets made up? What would it cost, just ballpark? Thanks.
dude
Or they could be what posh people use to move stuff around their workshop, they would also have spark plug carriers etc!!!!! When you coming to AFR for a visit dude????????
Jake
Hi John, yeah I'll have to come over and check the place out sometime. How much do you guys charge to replace the stem seals without removing the head?

Alex
A fabrication company should be able to do it. CW has done his own as has Paul Mac for his AMG 8-pot conversion. I believe Bromy works in fabrication too... Either way you need to get a technical drawing done of the part - the original bolt holes it will fit to and the new mounting points to move the caliper out to the right place. Then you'll need enough metal between the 2 points to keep it secure without adding a lot of weight. Usually, someone has done it before and you can nick their template! Chris Wilson
About 150 a pair, if you have a few sets done, more for one offs. Depends on complexity and if it's worth setting up a CNC programme. I find cheap calipers and discs off the internet and make brackets and bells around the expensive bits. Here is how I converted from stock calipers and discs to Brembo Le Mans car calipers sourced from a guy selling a spares package piecemeal, and 13 inch AP discs on my 2 WD Skyline. It cost a LOT less than 1000 quid because I used an assortment of bits. I used Aston Martin DB9 rear calipers for the back brakes, (Brembo but with a fancy powder coat in black with AM logo...). http://www.chriswilson.tv/front_brakes/front_brakes.html
bromy
I now work in the Aerospace industry and it a lot harder to get any personal projects done otherwise I would have done you a set Jake no problem, as Chris said for one off's you will pay a LOT more money.... programming, set-up and prove out time is where your cost is, after that you could knock one up easily from billet in 30min. Machine dependent most shops rent machining time out at £50/hour.
garethr
You can buy (20 USD) a CAD file for Brembo F50 front calipers to Supra from the v-eight.com forum.
Dnk
If your after something like the picture above you really dont need any clever programing to do those. If you would like my brothers number he owns and runs a CNC machine shop (Laranaca Engineering) which does lots of work for motorsport teams etc
