Yip I'd say so, bit of a crazy idea, but it would make your car even more special. Why don't you modify the TRD bar, or even get a one made when the brace sits a bit higher to clear the turbo?

Use the old brace to make a jig, the bar itself isn't a complicate shape (esp if yu reuse the original end parts - means you need to hack up a good TRD bar though) or just remake the end parts too? It's all just flat pieces of metal & a couple of bars welded together?

If you jack it up the issue will then be bonnet contact. See what clearance you have below the bonnet when closed and the strut packed to clear the Turbo. This can be done with measured cubes of plasticine or blue tack. If there is a few millimetres I am sure I can help get a set of nice chromed spacers made so you can keep the strut you love.

If not enough space we can do a re-think and i am sure there will be a way around it. :read:

I've just collected my gearbox and bits up from Jurgens today. And I must say I'm over the moon with the way the parcels are packed. Everything and I mean everything was individually bubblewrapped and there was even a box with the gearbox bolts in. There's a couple of bits I got with the conversion that I've already got so will just put them up for sale.

Hopefully be back up tomorrow to collect the engine.

Nothing much happened to be honest.

I'll get some pics of the box and other bits up tomorrow if I can.

I've been let down with a van for tomorrow to pick my engine up. Am totally p$&@ed off, seems I've just done a 50 mile round trip to borrow an engine crane and jam irvin the back of my punto. I've got the rear interior panels to strip out tonight ready to fit the cage which I'm gona get from jurgen tomorrow.

I was gona fit the rest of the pedals and clutch master cylinder but I've decided to have it polished 1st. I know you can only see a small part of it but it can be seen and the OCD couldn't cope with it.

A p.m to ray is iminant I think.

I was going to have the white paint stripped from my brake servo and have it polished as per Rays post but now I'm unsure. I don't know if it will be too much. Hmmmmmm. What should I do. Any opinions folks.

While I like your attention to detail, IMO that would be too over the top. It's a big unit and all that chrome would just look a bit 'odd' and over-powering. I'd leave it white or have it in a contrasting matt black.

mate have it polished! its a nice extra touch and makes a boring area exciting, sorry to hear about the engine mate. did you get a cusco roll cage??

I'm not sure the make of the cage. I know it's a 7 point rear cage only. Looks very tidy and well made too. All will be revealed tomorrow I guess.

Jurgen did offer to look after the engine until I was ready when I spoke to him the other week so I don't think it will be a big deal he's usually willing to help. I'll go get it as soon as I can sort a van out though.

Just a thought for you Hodge, I seem to recall a thread a long time ago by Coloda (I think) about the TRD strut brace and TRD bonnet not being compatible (according to TRD themselves) so if you raise the strut bar to clear the turbo you may have bigger issues as to not being able to actually close the bonnet - that said could be a show piece to all your hard work in the engine compartment though, and get lots of air in there too :innocent:

I've gone for a carbon AB-Flug instead mate. Every carbon bonnet I've seen is alot thinner on the under side than a fiberglass 1 so I think it should be fine.

I do like proving people wrong though. It was said you couldn't fit a polished fan shroud with an afternarket bonnet and I managed it on bosscos supra. Love a challange me LOL.

I am getting a spare servo to polish. Once I have satisfied current orders I will send it you if you like to fit and see if too much!

Only takes an hour to fit and won't interfere with timing plan, so will give you peace of mind you made the right choice ;)

The strut takes 5 minutes to fit and you cant actually see it unless the bonnet is up. So get some spacers and pop it on at shows ect. You can then remove and store for the next show.

Then you get to keep the strut you love....

Called up jurgens workshop today and picked up my rollcage. Very nice bit of kit. I've even swapped my rear quarter panel so I don't have to cut mine to suit the cage. I'm gona test fit the cage and drill all apropriate holes tomorrow I hope and then take it back out to be painted sometime next week if I can get Kev over, if he ain't busy. I also need to sort the pedals out asap too as my garage in now starting to look like a breakers yard not a tuning shop.

Its been a while since ive posted some pics so here you go. The other day ive fitted the bonnet catches, remove the rear wiper that ugly sticky on ariel thingy and the washer jet.

The new gear and handbrake gators have been fitted and a new momo handbrake handle.

Today has been an eventfully uneventful day. I started with all intentions to fit the rollcage but hit a bit of a stumbling block.

The cage came from a normal supra and is going into my Aerotop. The problem being that an Aerotop has the sockets for the roof to bolt into at the back where the cage sits. These are around 35mm lower than a normal supras roof so hence the cage was miles away.

I had to cut the feet off the cage and also cut 35mm off the length of the main structure. I ground the weld off the feet and hopefully will be getting them welded back on tomorrow so I can prime it ready for paint.

Ive also removed the rear belts while I was on as there is no need for the anymore.

After I got as far as I could with the cage, it was time for the car to leave its home in the garage and live outside for a while whilst I get the engine sorted.

Ive built the engine stand ready and got most of the bits in the garage ready for the engine build.

Whilst the cars out the garage ive primed the 3 smaller sections for the cage ready for apint and laquer.

Thats all for now folks. Hopefully more pics soon,

Mate, seriously. You have some awesome skills. You're wasted using that talent on your car alone,.................... I think you should come and sort out the interior on mine :D

Its just a case of having a go mate. The problem is im never pleased with the quality of work of so called professionals. I only end up taking it all apart and doing it again myself so I thought lets just cut out the middleman and do it myself from the start.

To be fair I do do work on other members car around the north east. I should apply to be a trader on here lol.
