hodge
You're moving on fast John. Any news from Chris yet? Yep, engine should be ready next weekend. Rods and pistons are balanced, crank and clutch is balanced and was collected yesterday, block is rebored and getting honed today, and will be collected on Monday. So there's just the core plugs, and piston rings to gap which Chris said would be done next week. I did tell Chris I was in no hurry, but this guy moves fast. Still with the knowledge that once it's finished I've got a perfectly balanced engine. To be honest Luc, I'm in 2 minds weather to just ask him to fit it all together for piece of mind really. IMO, there's no better engine builder out there.

hodge
Christmas come early! Looking forward to seeing the pics, are you running a Syvecs ECU? Yeah, I am. I wouldn't use anything else if I'm honest. It's saved my engine a couple of times now.
Noz
Yeah, I am. I wouldn't use anything else if I'm honest. It's saved my engine a couple of times now. What happened in those cases mate? I'm only curious as I'm still undecided what to do for a standalone.
hodge
What happened in those cases mate? I'm only curious as I'm still undecided what to do for a standalone. First time, the intake temp sensor plug came off, the Syvecs detected this and went into limp mode cutting boost to wastegate spring and pulled timing. Second time was more severe, the timing tensioner failed/ began to fail under load, making the belt become looser under boost. The Syvecs detected a indescrepency between cam and crank sensors so killed the car to stop and damage. The logs even told me what was wrong, with a little help from Ryan. I know they are expensive but mines paid for itself 10 times over.

Thanks for posting that Hodge, helps justify the costs when looking at an install, even on a BPU.
Rob_Mitchell
Syvecs got me out the crap one day too when it detected a increase in fuel pressure. Very clever bit of kit and worth every penny! Nice updates John! very excited for you.
Parry_10
Your set up is going to be crazy:D should be a nice drive off boost then when it comes on boost BOOM lol. I don't understand why everyone seems to think lag is a bad thing with a supra. On a 500hp set up yeh I can understand but anything over 600+ you need the lag imo as your only going to be spinning up the wheels and not putting all the power down until you reach higher speeds anyway.
