hodge
Glad to hear it My little fingers are all sore from sanding parts down yesterday - these are possibly some way off due to some problems I'm having with a new batch of resin and hardener! Hope you're not in a hurry for them There's no hurry mate, take your time. Just look after them fingers, if there sore you've nothing to to search for porn with on the net lol. drift_bear
Ok guys as promised here's a little how to on fitting aerocatches. Firstly I masked the corners of the Bonnet off. http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/Shineypics/3d8a5739.jpg Then using the hole the bonnet stay hoes into (I have dampers fitted) I drilled a hole in the middle of it straight through. http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/Shineypics/d5eb9990.jpg Don't forget to remove the light 1st. Next I fitted the pin and shut the bonnet on it and marked roughly where I thought it was. Using a 20mm wood drill I gently bored a hole through both layers of carbon and fiberglass. http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/Shineypics/2834333d.jpg Next I overextended the pin. http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/Shineypics/db235872.jpg Luckly I was band on 1st time when I closed the bonnet over pin. I then laid the catch on top of the pin and positioned it in the angle I wanted it to sit. http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/Shineypics/e945cb4e.jpg I then closed the catch over the pin making sure it was tight to the bonnet. http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/Shineypics/014009cd.jpg I then drew around the bottom of the catch. And using a 3mm wood drill I drilled around the inside of the catch outline I had just traced. Making sure I left s little material on to file to size. http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/Shineypics/c72c54eb.jpg Next I used the drill as a router and very gently joined the holes together until the centre piece fell out. DO NOT pull too hard as the fiberglass/carbonfibre will chip. http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/Shineypics/1ffd9bd2.jpg I lay the catch over the top of the hole and sure enough it was slight undersized. So I filed the hole out accordingly with a semi circle file. Using the flat edge for the straights and the curved edges for the radius. http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/Shineypics/7f918c7b.jpg The bottom odviously needed filing too. http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/Shineypics/7dca5634.jpg Test fitted the catch. http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/Shineypics/1ffbffec.jpg The pin was then lowered and the bonnet shut to correctly size the pin up. http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/Shineypics/b2b13334.jpg This is how much pin I had to cut off the bottom. http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/Shineypics/780a47a4.jpg http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/Shineypics/fee5595a.jpg Tape removed. http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/Shineypics/cc4a0b61.jpg Final test fit. http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/Shineypics/188730ed.jpg Finally. I ran a bead of sikaflex around the bottom of the catch. I pushed the catch into place and locked it down. For cosmetic reasons I then pushed the supplied screws into the holes on the catches and them wiped the excess sikaflex off the bonnet and catch and left it to dry overnight. Odviously I did the other catch and bonded them both and left overnight to dry. This is the final result. http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/Shineypics/dd5bac8c.jpg Thanks for this write up john, ill be doing this tomorrow (if the weather stays dry) so will let you know how i get on! hodge
It's been a long time since I updated the thread as ive had a bit of a trying time of late. I've got some upgrades going on with the car over the next few months. Here's a few pics of what's going on via the mechanical side. Going for a full -10AN fuel system splitting to 2x -8AN at the rail. -10AN fuel filter and -10AN to 2 x -8AN Y-pieces. Gates blue timing belt Fuel pressure sensor for the Syvecs and various aeroquip fittings. Ferrea duel valve spring seats Whiffbitz billet tensioner Second Bosch 044 pump and sock filter. Ferrea duel valve spring with titanium retainers. Odds are I'm going to do the ICE install first before I start the mechanics. My missus has bought me 2 Hertz Amps for Xmas. 1 x 1000w monoblock and 1 x 920w 4 channel. I've already got a set of Focal K2 components fitted and I've got a pair of 12" Rockford Fosgate subs to go in although I'm considering replacing them for Hertz subs, but I'll see how cash is when I'm ready. I'll be doing a full fiberglass install replacing the back seat but am hoping to use the rear part of the back seat to mount the amps on and fibreglass them in but I won't know if it's going to work until I cut the seat up. hodge
Started on the ICE install today. I had a crazy idea about sinking the amps into to upper part of the back seat but that was a bit pie in the sky until I pulled the seat apart, so off I went. This is what I ended up with this is the frame with the locking mechanism to hold the seat in place. This is what I removed. Backing board, vinyl and foam padding. I mounted the back board back onto the frame and added some extra screws into the frame to stiffen it up a little. Took it in the house where it was warm (whilst the wife was at work lol) to try a few things. Amps at the ready lol. After a little modification to the inner cage they fit like a glove. I lay the seat foam over the amps to get a rough position. Then I cut sections out the foam and folded the foam to contour into the amps. I had a spare piece of acoustic cloth in the garage so I tacked it to the foam just to see if it flowed well and non of the lines from the foam was visible. I'll get some more cloth tomorrow and do it properly. I've just test fitted it in the car and it's a perfect fit. Will look much better once I get some more cloth and glue. Not a bad job at all for Hodge the Bodge ehh

hodge
Nice Hodge liking that idea. Thanks Ricky. I didn't want everything flat from the boot floor right through. I still wanted the boot seperated from the cabin which is why I went for this sort of thing.

hodge
Got the amps wired up today. Just need to fit the distribution box for the power cables then were done and I can start trimming it properly. Hopefully I'll get the amps powered up tomorrow to make sure all ok before I start constructing the fibreglass box.
mwilkinson
I'm thinking about doing a very similar setup to you with the fuel system. The rail I will be using has 6AN connectors. But I still want to run twin 044 pumps with the staggered setup Jamiep has. Do you think I could just use 8AN furl lines to the fuel filter and still get a good flow rate? Areyou also running a 10AN return to the tank too? Final question, what make is the fuel filter and it's filtration level?
hodge
Year u think youll be fine with -6 AN to each end of the rail. Just run a -6AN from each pump, into a -8AN feed line then spilt into 2 x -6AN to rail. I'm still running a -6AN return line. Fuel filter is from Jay Racing but I can't remember off hand what micron of filtration it is. If your going to use a -8AN system I'll be selling my fuel lines and other associated parts once it's off the car. It's all Teflon braided stuff. Drop me a p.m if your interested. hodge
Got all the wiring done last night and had the amps powered up with the front Focal components. Sounds amazing and that's without subs. Im going to try a different method for the fibreglassing on the base of the box. I've seen flexible plastic which moulds with heat. I'm going to give that a go instead of using masking tape to stop the sticky Resadue being left in the car once I lift the base out. I'll post plenty of pics and do a bit of a how to aswell, for all those who are interested in ICE installs.
MarkR
Looks great - I did the same with my back seat back in the day when I had my Supra. My two pence.... I'd cut away some of the wood under the amps to allow for cooling. A little trick I learnt when I used to install ice was to use tin foil in the boot when doing the fibreglassing. You can get it into all the nooks and crannies and it's really thin so you don't end up with the wrong sized box...

I've found some thermoplastic to use but it's 55 quid a sheet. Might give the tinfoil a blast.
hodge
Bit of an update folks. I spent the afternoon on Sunday on the install. Firstly I put cling film on the void where the bottom of the back seat went. Then I used masking tape to cover it all. After I had everything covered up, the fibreglass matting went in and covered in resin/Gardner mix. I left it all to dry over night, and pulled it and out it came in 1 piece. I didn't take any pics of the mold, but I'll try and do it tomorrow. Also, my drag wheels and Tyres turned up today too. These tyres are HUUUUUGE. I recon after a refurb these wheels are going to look pretty special for sure.

hodge
looking good mate, you will have to get some pics up of the car with these drag wheels on! Won't be for quite a while yet. I won't be using the car with them on until it goes up the strip. So are you taking the rear seats out altogether? I've used the top part of the rear seat as an amp rack but the bottom part has gone. It doesn't get used anyways as I've got a cusco half cage in there so no-one would fit in the back if I tried hahaha.
