Do you remember this happening couple of years back aswell as other similar storys.

Seems this site is dedicated to Islam being a barbaric religion, though the article posted has no reference to Islam?

Personally I believe the media has a massive play in this religion issue.

Here is an example of media portraying information.

"KKK have killed X amount of people & have been involved in this"

"Muslim people have killed X amount of people & have been involved in this"

They normally have a name or are part of a group, i.e JJJ, why would the media not refer to them as this & rather use the religion aspect? The KKK have a christian based following & swear by the bible but they you never heard the media stated a Christian terriorist group has etc etc do this.

Muslims around the world - we are talking billions here, have explained how these extremeists group are not part of the islamic religion.

All these problems in our society are due to people being force fed information.

My 1p (As its a recession).

People accept the information that is put forward to them without looking into it themselves. Perhaps it is due to the them having prejudged misconceptions, maybe its because they are lazy or they are really just ignorant or a amalgamation of all the above.

Militant and Racist parties with a political agenda thrive on such sheep (in this case perhaps not Black sheep) :)

Or how about leaving religion out completely? Those children who's parents insist they are taught can be taugh BY their parents. This will help with family bonding too. Those children who aren't interested need not waste their time with it.

Because religion is generally perpetuated by the parents in the first place, the force-feeding from a young age is what produces the naive results we see around us, it's only the non-extreme familes (which are now steadily growing in number) that allow their own children freedom of belief that have children growing up to become Aethiest or otherwise non-religious. Ideally every child should be shown every religion in schools, so they can see that they are all very similar and take their own thoughts back to their parents and then argue it with them.

True, I've read (and believed at one point) that the Muslim religion actually TELLS it's followers that ALL non-believers must be killed!! This is gold for the media to tell their flock.

I do intend to read a translation of the Quran at some point, just never get round to it.

science is uncorruptable fact, you can't dispute it.

To use your own words:

What a rediculous statement!

It wasn't that long ago when science thought the world was flat and the sun orbited the earth. Science is totally corruptable as it is based on facts that can be easily amended, contradicted, disproven or changed. Ironic when you think that the story of the birth of Jesus has remained relatively the same for numerous years (and appears to be historically accurate time period wise) despite the fact it is based on religion.

the fact that people are allowed to learn and adapt theory with progress and development is the very thing that science has over religion. (i.e. free thinking, self testing etc)

as for the jesus story; the virgin birth, son of god, resurrection etc etc have all been found in pre-christ stories from all around the then known world. it is/was not new, it just was useful to rome in particular at the right time and so promoted to the exclusion of all other god stories. your true native religion (back to the barking bnp) is pagan - so get out your wishing stick and hug a tree.

:D Yes I've had a few friends who thought one day on a night out I would kill them all!

My whole post was simply in to disagree with the comment "science is uncorruptable fact, you can't dispute it." - Your above post appears to support my point which is nice. I wasn't trying to state religion is better than science etc which you seemed to respond to off the back of my post.

Very interesting and I particularly like your last point very much :)

.....but science is uncorruptable fact, you can't dispute it.

you have a lot of FAITH in science :D yet it was only 600 years ago or thereabouts the greatests minds thought the earth was flat, 60+ years ago the greatests minds thought there was nothing smaller than an atom :innocent: i can go on if you wish... the point i'm trying to make is science is not uncorruptable fact, its limited to "what we know now".

in my view science just proves creationism, i've been reading a translation of the Quran, and can find many examples of modern scientific fact proving it's validity. go get yourself a copy and research it yourself.... you'll be surprised!

Yes, I have faith in science, and yes, it is limited to what we know now and facts & theories are always being returned to and poked with different theoretical sticks to see if they break. And as far as people believing the world was flat, that is mostly just a myth.

As far as reading the Quran goes, I really can't be arsed. I have far better things to waste my time on. If I want fairy stories, I'll read Lord of the Rings again - it's far more believable and interesting. I despise organised religion with a passion - xtianity being the most evil, corrupt, controlling bullshit ever, with the other major religions coming a close second. I was raised Roman Catholic, and had seen and experienced the hypocrisy by the time I got to high school. I was glad to be allowed to choose my own path when I was 14.

There is no god, the religions we have now are bastard constructs of human design bent on oppressing the enfeebled dolts who make up the majority of the human herd through guilt, repression and promises of a glorious afterlife. Fuck that; when you die, it's darkness and worms, finito benito.

That flexibility is what is good about it though! That's why I like it so much cos I'm open minded enough to say "I used to believe this, then I read xyz and now I think this is true." You can't do that with religion you're stuck believing some old story that some bloke wrote years and years ago.

and that's the point i'm trying to make - you've not read the quran by your own admission, so how can you just dismiss it as nonsense? :)

No your point was science doesn't prove anything, my point wasn't saying it was nonsense just that I'd rather believe something that allows for an open mind than something that is completely 'set' and closed to any changes - whether it's been correct so far or not.

Thats the problem these days!

People are quick to jump onto the religion is bo!!ocks campaign when they have no knowledge about the religion itself.

Good old saying, ..........never judge a book by its cover.........but yet most seem to these days.

I personally don't care whether a person is religious or not, i have been bought up to treat others the way i would like to be treated regardless of black, white, blue, green, christian, jew, hindu etc etc etc and been bought up to respects others and not insult or offend anyone deliberatley.

I am muslim and my neighbours on one side a are hindus and other side jews and as i have grown up havent seen any differences between us.

We ate with each other, played with their kids, went to their childrens wedding's (temple, synagogue etc) and my parents were not born here. and are muslim.

There are alot of muslims out there like this but yet the haters will ignore this totally and concentrate on what they have just seen on BBC1!

Whats wrong with a little bit of respect for others beliefs, even if yours a completely the opposite?

After all we all have to live on this earth and have to share this space and these days the majority in religion are relaxed and have modern views, its not all what u see on the telly!
