JamieP
Ranger is crap, my mate has one and its slow and noisy, ive had a couple of Navaras and a L200, ive not driven the latest L200 so cant comment on that but i had the old style one for a couple of years, decent truck but not the best seating position, nowhere to rest your leg when driving i also had a few problem with it letting in water, had a new carpet fitted twice under warranty. I have the new shape Navara now and love it, comfortable/fast and looks beefy, does about 120mph.

JamieP
What year did the new navara come out? Will have a look at some of them if you think they are best. Is it diesel? I think the D40 navara came out in 2005, ive also had one of the older D22 navaras but they are well known for engine troubles so id try to avoid one of them, as i say ive not had a go in the latest L200 so cant coment on what they drive like although i dont like how they look, old L200 looks far better to me. P 17EED
Yes i do like the look of the L200 warriors. Its only gonna be used around town really and to lend out to people on sites. Just thought about one of these to be different, everyone uses vans!!

Very nice interior, runs quiet and is powerful (has had a remap). Great on diesel too. Bit of a barge to drive though. L200s are very nice as long as you are staying 05+. Newest shape looks terrible IMO. Izuzu rodeo denver would be my first choice, one of the best in its class. Really hold their money though, will cost you a lot more against a same year ranger or l200.
JamieP
My mate Paul has a 09 ranger auto, terrible looking thing imo, sounds like a tractor (maybe he has no oil in it:D) i leave him for dead in my navara.
Paul
I've had an L200 Warrior '55 plate (older shape) for about 18months or so and it's been really good. Great in the snow and ice, no problem with letting in water other than the rear load area, I've got the roller top fitted and it lets in a little but I'm sure with more sealing I could sort it. Agree with the seating position, not ideal but you get used to it, comfortable enough on a long journey, love the look of it, it's got aircon (well, chiller) so is great in the heat too. All in all a great motor
supramkivcork
Would you consider the toyota hilux ? Worked in Toyota for a while, great seller . Fine to drive once there's a bit of weight on the flat-bed, otherwise can be a bit tail happy.
jevansio
Thread resurection Me & Rach have been looking for a car we both like, and the L200 is one we agree on. Any of you guys who have them still think they're a good buy, anything we should look out for? She wants Manual, I want Auto, she wants cloth I want leather. Any opinions on the auto/manu box would be good.
ozz
I gave up on a pickup, couldn't find one I liked for my budget. The denver looked the nicest but unless you find a very rare model (XL or something) they are 20 seconds 0-60!! I just bought a 55 plate Kia Sorento, its 200 miles away so won't get it til next week, not viewed it either but having test driven similar models at the local dealer we knew it was the car for us. Drives similar to a car, and for us was better than a pickup becuase the rear window flips up meaning we can transport long pieces of wood (which we do). can't do that with a pickup! I love leather interiors, missus hates them. can be very hot in summer, cold in winter (heated seats is a must). Just to add, I was dead against the early navaras (D22 engine) as I'd heard horror stories but after a lot of research it appeared it was actually a much better engine than the D40 and not as unreliable as people thought. In fact, people seemed to have more issues with the new engine.

I put a deposit on a 54 plate only to find it had the dreaded head gasket problems apparantly this tends to be ones that have had the power upgrade fitted I've since bought a 52 plate warrior which has been been great so far and returns 35mpg which is not too bad and they can also be run on veg oil although not something I fancy trying. Had mine de-catted which improves the drive a fair amount.

Cheers but think it may be too many miles, my lass is VERY picky So is the general concensus that these are a reasonable everyday car? Is there anything I should be wary of who owns such a car? ozz
If you want an every day car look at the sorento. I've not got mine yet but test drove them and much better than other 4x4s we drove including the disco we had for a few months. If you can get an 06 onwards (we just missed it) you get more power and class leading towing ability. I don't know how well they do offroad, but I don't think you can get a better road 4x4 for the money, tourag aside maybe.

tony tt
I drive a 2008 l200 every day for work there quite good and comfy but they lack feel in the corners. The navara is the better choice and has around 20 more hp and handles a lot better imo.

Taste is selective but I think they look good, and you can get nice shiny chrome bull and steps for them The sportage is a better looking kia, not as capable a 4x4 but nice. linky they can look good styled (wheels aside), this is same colour as mine but without nice roof. Thats the bars I've ordered tho.
