AndrewOW
The TV says it's not immigration that's bumped the UK population up so much in recent years, but the breeding they do once they get here. Does this mean he can bring her over but not...... ? Make generic copies?

Once they're here...that's it - breed breed breed!!! Putting you off yet? Who are you referring to with that? Nothing so far has put me off, even the threat from her father of chopping me into small pieces if I don't marry her! She has a HK passport anyway, so can travel here without restriction for up to 6 months. Anyway, err does that answer your question about off duty policepeeps, Garfy?! Class One
My comments were wildly aimed at Doug as well, as I think I remember him selling his Supra for an MX5 a while back. I didn't sell the Supra to buy the MX5, but yes I did buy one, infact we still have it. I don't really miss the Supe per se, but I do miss the near 400bhp it had. I scour the classifieds forum nearly every day, and if circumstances were different I would have bought another by now. I really like driving the 5 though, puts a smile on my face every time and really is great on a twisty road. If only it had about 200bhp. Abz
Few years back I had an off duty police women "Flashed" (Don't get excited lads) her badge at me & then gave me a load of abuse about causing a traffic jam. When I mean flash all I saw was a little bit of gold in a black wallet...for all I knew she could have stuff a load of worthers original wrappers in a black wallet! I kindly pointed out in front I had no where to go & the lady in front refused to reverse into the spot behind because she could not reverse her car (BMW X5) and I can not reverse because you & 5 cars are behind. Following this I asked for her badge number, she apologised & approached the lady in the X5. I told her in future not to stereotype & assume as I was in an orange civic I was in the wrong! Sorry what was your question?

Tannhauser
proof they cant do shit without it so id say see you in court, this happened to me about a month back was racing some dude in a bmw (i was in my daily driver vectra 1.9cdti) and won, as i was driving at some speed in a 40 i went past 2 police officers in uniform they waved at me so i just floored it and thought no more 3 days later i had a letter stating i was driving in excess speeds, the letter then went onto say we need to know who was driving and i have 28 days to let them know so i binned the letter. About 33 days went passed and guess what i had a knock at the door and it was mr plod. Cut a long story short he was a cock and had no proof and i said i cant remeber so he then said your lucky this time ill let you off with a worning, so i said well thats not luck thats all you can do and smiled, he then walked off and i thought well thats my card marked. yes i know i shouldnt be racing and shouldnt be speeding but its fun when you beat a cock in a BMW lol. Jeez.

marbleapple
Nice contribution Despite the thread moving on some what, for the benefit of Mike and Charlotte NM means 'never mind'. I don't actually know how to delete a post so if I say something and then think 'why am I bothering' I simply change it to NM.

duncz
IME police only ever get 'rude' if you're being abusive to them (for stopping them when you've done nothing) or if you've done something wrong Really? IME it can go both ways. I remember passing my test at 17 and doing handbrake turns late at night in a huge Asda carpark - me in my awesome Citroen AX and my mate in his 206. Probably 1am or so while Asda was shut. Cleaners called the police, single policeman turned up and said he was much happier that we were pratting about off the roads but asked if we could move on. Fine, that's grand, I appreciated that kind of attitude. On the other hand when I was driving my first modified car at the age of 19 I had no less than 7 producers in the period I was driving it. Not once did I get any points, not once did any of the policemen involved actually have anything to say about my driving or the state of my car, they just pulled me over and gave me some bs about the car looking like it might've been stolen, then gave me a producer. During this time I encountered a number of policemen that were rude straight off the bat and for entirely no reason. I'm a polite person, I don't lose my temper easily and I'm usually very respectful.. but it's kinda difficult to keep your cool when their opening sentence is "right, for a start, don't open your mouth or I'm gonna get the drug dogs down to check your car out". Had they done that to me now I would've taken their number and filed a formal complaint but at the time it just scared/frustrated me. That annoyed me immensely and I lost a huge amount of respect for the police then. I was never pulled for speeding - I still have zero points and crashes on my license 5 years later. All depends on the area and the individual policemen I guess. Coincidentally I was never pulled over by a traffic cop, it was always the standard policemen in their panda cars. Yeah some are a bit narcy just cos of what you're driving, but you do have to understand that MOST of the people they see in similar cars (or at least what they see as similar cars) probably ARE speeding/drink driving/being an arse/stolen it or something else, they've probably been hardened by years of plebs saying "Why don't you go and arrest some real criminals" so now they just go straight in with an aggressive tone. It's not right but experience tends to suggest if you are polite and give them what they ask for they will lighten up and let you off. Obviously some knobby cop not letting you speak and threatening you with dogs and just giving you a producer without talking to you first deserves a clip round the face though!
