Guigsy
depends what your useing it for and if you want to be "cool" and "have supreme control" of the car while your stuck in traffic Technicly the manual has the higher top speed. But thats a bit pointless as you will never get near it on a uk road with a stock rev limit.
Branners
hi ho hi ho its 'off topic' where this should go as it is not really a technical question.
Matt H
Such a broad question. What do you class as fast? Pound for pound, the Autos seem to always have it up the drag strip. Only draw back is you can't get really big HP from the stock Autoboxas it can't cope. Round a track though you would be best with more control. Day to day driving, obviously an Auto Being cool.. A 6 speed box. Plus there are less about. Tuning: Much easier with a Manual.
R Black
Manual, why else would bother with all that rowing:sly:
tooquicktostop
The control you have for holding gears revs etc makes the 6 speed feel faster, the truth is in a straight line the Auto has it at BPU level, I would take an auto in UK traffic all day long Peer pressure made me go auto to 6 speed along with the single killing the box I dont really like the Getrag box, its like stirring spanners and it has one too many gears, it is amazing in strength in stock form however and that can not be ignored if you are looking for 500BHP +

stevie_b
Lots of variables to this question, one of which is the driver's skill.

Scooter
For me in summary, both are great boxes but both have their minor downsides.............in the manual these are more apparent at low speeds and in normal driving and in the auto they are more apparent at high speeds/power and when driving enthusiastically. Even the 60fts were faster
