Tourniquet
Hello all just wanted to see if anyone could point me in the right direction. The Beast is poorly again and this time Im fed up with people working on it, charging me a fortune and it going bang after a couple of weeks and denying all knowledge so Im doing it myself. Econ is going to help me and Michel Lane has kindly offered to come to the rescue again and plonk some bearings in it for me - leg-end :-) I was hoping someone could post any linkies to engine rebuilds etc - preferably plonker proof step by step jobbies but any help is help. The way I see it is if it goes bang I've only lost a couple hundred on parts as apposed to a couple of grand in labour - plus I might learn something - bonus. What dya think guys n gals ? dude
Good Luck!!! If you need someone to come put bearings in it you should not be trying to build it yourself.

Miguel
Tony's very well written guide to building an engine can be found HERE. Good luck with it all.
Chris Wilson
A few words of advice, if you think it's clean enough it almost certainly isn't. If it's done the bearings it needs a TOTAL strip, to a bare block, including a head strip, a NEW oil cooler assembly, a new oil pump and lots of time and money. A second hand, unopened engine will be a LOT cheaper.

Tourniquet
cheers guys. No idea how easy it is to bung bearings in, I've never tried but he offered so I accepted lol. I don't think it will be any worse than the state it's in now and Econ's pretty clued up on his R34 which is a straight six also so i'm willing to have a bash. I can't afford to pay someone to do the whole thing so worse case scenario is it'll stay on the drive with the engine back in the shed for another year if I lose my rag and stick a socket through the windscreen :-)
michel lane
Box it up and send the block to me mark . You know what I need....stop fannying around .

Guest Econ
Michel is doing all the hard bits like head and block work. Me and Mark are just going to put it all back together and put it back in the car which I know is no easy job but we should be fine. Thanks for any help and advice even if my R34 is still a straight 6 each engine is different so I have a good idea but the more information the better
nero
If its your first time doing car work a motor pull and build is not an easy first time thing. Make sure you do a lot of research or have someone who's done this type of work before help you. Not for the faint of heart, also if its done wrong you will just loose more money as you will have to do it again and hopefully won't hurt more parts on top of what was already broken
