Dnk
Collected a new Landcruiser from a customer to have a new mirror fitted today, a passing van clipped the drivers mirror and broke the glass a couple of days ago. The owner thought its just a glass so £50 ish should cover it so didnt pursue the van even though it was the van in the wrong!! 1st bad news is the glass is £240 !! The mirror had arrived so i bought the cruiser into the workshop and on getting in it noticed small oil spots down the drivers door, sill, rear door and quarter panel. 2nd bad news is the mirrors are oil filled and this oil has eaten through the laquer and now the whole sides got to be stripped and repainted. I thought a good heads up if anyones got oil filled mirrors on there dailys etc

T2 MSW
Don't heated mirrors use elements, not oil? And how does one know if one has oil filled mirrors?! yes normally its elements, was just thinking the oil may be used as a heat exchange between the element and the mirror ahhh or is it part of the auto dimming feature of the mirror!?!
