icemanv6
Was wondering if anyone could give me a rough estimate of the kind of weight you would save by removing the spare wheel + removing the rear seats? Also, do the front seats weigh quite a bit compared to 'lightweight' bucket seats.
pedrosixfour
I'd say you are looking at roughly 25 kgs in the rear seats and spare wheel. The driver's seat weighs considerably more than a lightweight bucket seat due to its electric gubbins. I'd imagine theres a further 20 kgs to be saved by changing the driver's seat ALONE to a fairly decent bucket seat (carbon) and quality mounts. Another 10-15 kgs if you change the passenger seat too. icemanv6
Woah, that's quite a lot of weight, an extra passenger in weight nearly. Thanks for the info
pedrosixfour
Don't forget I said decent bucket seats and I was referring to the fixed type also.
jevansio
My Recaro Speeds weighed approx 42kg (stock ones may weigh more with them being electric). I replaced them with Recaro Profi SPGs, 6kg per seat, fixed custom frames, I reckon 16kg the pair, so I saved 26kg going to buckets. If you remove the rear seats you can also remove the seatbelts saving more weight.
Dazzi
I weighed the rear seats yesterday actually. The rear seats are 12.5lb and the spare wheel is 6lb. My drivers seat was 46lb and passenger 36lb. My cobra monaco seats weigh 32lb each with subframes. Edited August 21, 2009 by Dazzi Put kg instead lbs (see edit history)

You sure you don't mean lbs, 46kg is a hell of a lot & 32kg for a bucket is HEAVY (unless the frames are lead ) Monacos are 9.6kg each without frames: http://www.diseno-art.com/products/racing_and_sports_seats/cobra_monaco_s.html

You should loose more than 25KG if removeing the seats and spare wheel, the spare wheels weighs in at around 20KG on its own + the seats are about 20KG so in total around 40KG, Also I will add i have just been to the nurburgring and removed both the rear seats and spare wheel and i could really tell that the extra weight had gone, The car was a lot more nippy, And now the seats and wheel are back in it feels really slow lol

Do you mean handling or acceleration, can you tell the difference with a full tank vs empty, personally I'd rather turn the boost up a bit!!! Kirk
can lose about another 10 kgs by removing the rear seat belts and speakers
