Drop in boost?

Saterday was a good day here, so took the car out for a bit of spirited driving, after a while I noticed that I was only getting 1bar of boost where as on other days I have been getting 1.2 bar.

Saterday night at 3am I finished replacing the inner gaurd and splash pans after taking them off to check for a boost leak. I tightened a few of the hoses, but there was no obvious leaks. I took the car out and was getting 1.2 bar again, happy days. Then on Sunday I was only getting 1bar again, tonight it rained so couldn't get to see wot she was doing.

Could this possibly be due to the weather, a fault with the boost gauge or is boost escaping from somewhere, the car still feels the same and seems to be going well, with no obvious problems.

If there was a small hole in one of the boost hoses, would it get larger and become obvious, or does any one know where to get a set of uprated hoses at a half reasonable price?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Before you go changing all the hoses, have you checked the BOV is closing properly? Are you still with the stock BOV or have you 'upgraded' to a ricer one? It might be worth swapping it for a known-good one, if only to eliminate it as a fault.

My RZ has had 2 faulty BOVs so far, one of which cost a few quid¹ to sort out when the BOV's ceramic washer went through the turbos.

what condition is are your tubies in?

when i had my MR2 Turbo the tubie started to give a little trouble, and the boost went a little irregular at times, eventually i knew it was going to pack in, so i got it replaced. The old tuby was in bit when we got it out defo on it's last legs.

Probably wouldent do any harm to get a hold of a different boost gauge even if its just to check your gauge is working right.

hope you get it sorted soon!!

depends on weather how dense (cold) the air is, in the winter it will make more bar than the summer as the air is denser. Also it depends how hard you floor it as I found with mine, floor it slowly the turbos spool up slower and wont make as much boost, floor it hard and the turbos spool up quicker and harder giving more boost. I think it normal mate mine varies as well.
