Are hose clips easier to use when reinstalling the hoses rather than the spring clips?

 

They are if you remember to tighten them from the right angle and use a extension.

As said above this is a real BASTARD of a job.

 

Spent 4 hours on monday trying to remove the clip with pliars, mole grips etc. Ripped off the old pipe, leaving the demonic spring clip attached to what was left. This did give more access, but it still wouldnt come off. Decided to push the clip and bit of hose remaining down the steel pipe to allow the new hose to go on.

 

Tightening the new hose with a hose clip was also problematic - hard to access and hard to tighten.

 

Still its all done now and touch wood, the new pipe isnt leaking at the hose clip

Urgh, its still leaking with a new hose that secured on the best way I could with a jubilee clip

 

 

Im going to start a new thread now looking for ideas on how to block the pipe at the back of the head off with a bung etc

I've blocked them off, I will post pics of how I did it later (weather permitting), I bought some 16mm HKS caps from Paul Whiffin, but IMHO they are too small, they did go on with some effort, but within a day they had split down one side, good job it didn't happen when the car was running.
