Crown wheel and pinion.

Hi,

Looking for a 4.27:1 crown wheel and pinion for my A01B LSD TORSEN I diff in my '95 SZ-R.

Toyota Part No.: 41201-80028

Must be in as new (or possibly new) condition, so nothing from a turbo'd NA running a raped NA drivetrain.

I realise this build is of little interest to many but if someone could possibly post a note on other supra forums where 4.27:1 diffs might be more plentiful I would be very grateful.

Also I'd have my 4.083:1 CW&P in exchange if this would be of any use in a deal.

Thanks,

Damien.

Ouch... just searched here for that part number... $749

Same part number for Lexus is $800

(That place is supposed to have reasonable prices, btw).

And also searched the EPC to see what models that number applies to...

Somewhere in Europe, some 5sp Supra NAs had that final ratio, but I don't know how you'd identify it (as in, no idea what number it would be in the trans-axle code).

In the US, there's three cars that used it:

Supra 5sp NA, JZA80, 9305 to 9607

Lexus SC300 auto, JZZ31, 9108-0007

Lexus GS300, JZS147, 9508-9708

That widens the search a little at least, but I think it's a long shot to find just the gear set, even though there's probably plenty of SC300 diffs around in the US.

Good luck :)

Once again Hermit your breeding is apparent.

I knew it'd be about $750 plus postage from Uncle Sam, which would take some justification!

Still, I'm going to price it with my friendly local Toyota dealer just for shits and giggles!

Come on people, check under your front seats for me, you never know what you might find!!

I will just as soon as my account is back up and running.

Just spent the last hour trying to sign in.

I can't remember my password and for some reason it won't accept any other method of logging in, secret question, other information or the ring me now option.

I've sent an e-mail to customer support, hopefully it'll be resolved.

Still waiting for someone at ebay to get back to me.

In the meantime I just got a quote of €410 for a new CW&P from Japan, plus shipping.

Certainly beats the quote of €900 I got from Toyota yesterday.

Anyone have a rough idea on the cost of shipping from Tokyo to Ireland? :)

Just double check they can actually be swapped before spending all that cash!! (Or at least, don't blame me if they can't :D).

Maybe worth waiting 'til you can speak to breakers on ebay.com, if one of them is willing to send you just the gears (after buying the whole diff lol) it might cost half that :search:

There's a few (but an SC400 one wouldn't be right)... http://motors.shop.ebay.com/__?_from=R40&_trksid=m39&_nkw=sc300+differential

I know what you're saying mate but to be honest I think I'd prefer to spend a bit more for new gears than try to save a few quid and run the risk of being sent wrong parts that were fitted at some stage in the past 16-17 years!

There was a bit of a trend of fitting 4.083 gears and lower to some SC300's and U.S. NA Supras, can you imagine standing beside me when I open the box to find the same bloody ring gear staring back at me with a few broken teeth, just for good measure!

Plus if I bought the entire diff, which I'd say is a given, the shipping cost from the states would cancel any savings I made from buying second hand.

I think I'll stick with the new route for now, there are far fewer variables in the mix! Plus I could have it early next week if I ordered it now, which I'm not going to, because I'm buying a kitchen and floors next week.:banghead::banghead::banghead:

Fair enough :) Didn't know they were in the habit of swapping gears, that would be a disaster!

And yeah, I was thinking that shipping the whole diff over wouldn't be worth it, it would need to be dismantled over there first. More hassle.

Just eat take-outs :p
