Charlotte
How many under 12's do you see in the cinema at 12 and over movies with their parents? How many under 12's do you think have seen harry potter in the cinema? Its not one rule for one and another for the others. Its across the board. I can see what you're getting at but I'm just stating fact. You can't take a child in to see an 18 film. You can take a child in to see a 12A because that's the A bit. It explains all this on the website link I posted.
Charlotte
Its the same train of thought though I disagree. I'm not a retard, I understand parents will do what they want with their kids. That's why we have no 'parental guidance' these days.
Scott
I disagree. I'm not a retard, I understand parents will do what they want with their kids. That's why we have no 'parental guidance' these days. Your right, that is the problem. I don't REALLY think a kid would ever get into an 18 (a proper kid) as it has to be cruelty of some sort. However, I went to see a good few 18 cert movies when i was younger than 18 but my Dad was responsible in what he was taking me to see. It was action violence type movies. I could not get into any of these movies on my own, i had to go with my Dad before they would let me in. I didn't hide the fact that i was underage, in fact i was an avid cinema goer and the attendants probably knew my face well. Never had an issue. Maybe it was poetic license on the cinema's part, i can't be sure, but i have never known anyone to get knocked back from the cinema with their parents. I know a lot of people who have went to see a lot of movies underage, of course not ridiculously under lol, and not had one bit of bother. You were a teenager then - not a child in the sense I meant, aged 4.
Scott
Again, I think we're talking at cross purposes. You were a teenager then - not a child in the sense I meant, aged 4. I can only take it as a hypothetical situation. In so doing you then have to look at the proper ruling which says 18's only. My point is that this is not the case. Where the grey area unfolds though, i don't know.

RiceRocket
Stanley Krubrick (the director) ) It's just Kubrick Hush Is that a good film? Regarding the 18 thing the bbfc clearly states: no-one younger than 18 may see an 18 film in a cinema, no-one younger than 18 may buy/rent an 18 rated video work. Ewen
Were the James Bond films 18 cert when they were first released ? If so I was taken to and allowed into an 18 cert film at the age of 7. I saw blood, cleavage and ladies thighs and stuff.

Ewen
I was reading about 'Cannibal Holocaust' recently. Caused quite a stir, mainly because the filmmakers were taken to court on charges of actual murder due to some rather realistic scenes of impaling etc. Its just the skill of the cameraman and make up artists that tip the balance between granting a certificate or not. Charlotte
when did he stop having a first name? I think he was being pendantic because you put two Rs in your original spelling of his surname.

stupra
Not much really shock's me in film's, but I don't really understand the need of gore just for gore's sake. (If you get me ). We all like differant thing's though, so each to their own. What i've never understood is that you can have sex legally at sixteen, but the power's at be say you can't watch it, (by that I mean porn and such like), untill you're eighteen... .
